Patent number: 6179235Abstract: The center feed roll may include a wound sheet material having lessened wound tension due to exposure to moisture. This exposure may prevent the inward collapse of sheet material into the core of the center feed roll.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1998Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventor: Timothy James King

Patent number: 6145782Abstract: A dispenser for center feed roll products includes a base and a cover adapted to fit the base. The cover further defines a cavity to receive the center feed roll product. The base further includes a roll platform and a securing means. The securing means defining an aperture is coupled to the roll platform and is adapted to support a center feed roll product. In addition, the securing means permits the installation of a roll product through the aperture and prevents the removal of the roll product.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1998Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventors: Timothy James King, James Justin Beech, Neville John Pryke, Richard Stephen Thom, Peter John Harvey Bessey, Stephen Patrick Middleton
-
Patent number: 5589258Abstract: Nonwoven material comprising a web of spunbonded polymer filaments in combination with at least one other spunbond or meltblown nonwoven layer with the combination impregnated with a stabilizing agent and the spunbond layer having been hot calendered to improve surface abrasion resistance. Preferred embodiments using a coating bath also including a surfactant and smooth calendering.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1991Date of Patent: December 31, 1996Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventors: Peter Maddern, Kenneth J. G. Currie

Patent number: 5137173Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing disposable wipes or the like having an aperture (30) in one face of the dispenser through which wipes may be dispensed. The aperture comprises a central opening (32) and two relatively thin elongated openings (34) which extend out from either side of the central opening. Protuberances (38) protrude into the elongated openings (34) from each side thereof. The protuberance from one side of each opening is preferably located adjacent to the corresponding protuberance from the other side, in a staggered arrangement.A dispenser is also provided which comprises a hopper (4) to hold at least one stack of wipes, the hopper being receivable in and pivotally attached to an outer casing (6), in such a way that with the outer casing resting on the ground, or secured to a wall, the hopper may be opened in order to insert a stack of wipes.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1990Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventors: Stephen P. Hughes, Ian E. Wood

Patent number: 4950526Abstract: Disposable mat material comprising an abrasion resistant pervious layer of a non-woven web of bonded filaments and an absorbent layer of microfibres, the pervious and absorbent layers being bonded intermittently, characterized in that the bonds penetrate through the pervious layer and join the fibres in that layer with those in the absorbent layer. Thus water, for example, on the feet of a user, rapidly penetrates to the absorbent layer from the outer abrasion resistant layer. The bond areas not only aid the rapid absorbence, but also provide `pockets` giving an enhanced roughness.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1989Date of Patent: August 21, 1990Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventor: Michael Singleton
-
Patent number: 4765039Abstract: A holder for flexible material comprising a flat base on which the material rests and at least one hinged side flap adapted to fold over on top of an edge of the material to hold the material in positon, characterized in that beneath the/or each hinged flap an upstanding wall extends from the base to form a backstop and a corresponding flange descends downwardly from the flap adjacent the hinge, the flange and wall being so arranged and dimensioned that when the flange is opened by upward hinged movement from the base ready to receive an edge portion of material, the bottom edge of the flange rests on the upper free edge of the wall to keep the flap open, on closure of the flap the bottom surface of the flange being arranged to `cam` over the upper surface of the wall, the wall, flange and/or hinge resiliently moving until the flange is free of the wall to close down over material positioned on the base.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1987Date of Patent: August 23, 1988Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventors: Martyn Rowlands, John Calvert

Patent number: 4698006Abstract: Apparatus for use in the reaction moulding of plastics materials in which two liquid components are mixed in a screw type or similar mixer. Mixed material is ejected or poured into a mould via a passageway which latter is one of a plurality of similar passageways arranged radially around a wheel. Each passageway remains in the lowermost (pouring) position for a period of time during which it is reckoned to remain in a satisfactory working condition, and the wheel is then automatically indexed to bring the next passageway into operation. Cleaning structure is employed to clean out the used passageways after a period of time known by experience to be sufficient for the material to be at least partially cured. In this way the passageways can be re-used in a continuous production machine.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1986Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: C. & J. Clark LimitedInventor: George T. Ralphs

Patent number: 4573612Abstract: A liquid dispenser has a reservoir to which a refill container may be connected via a fitment in order to determine the level of soap in the dispenser through a window of the reservoir. The refill container further has a dispensing tube through which a predetermined amount of soap is dispensed on actuation of the lever. The tube and fitment are both mounted to a mounting component to which the bag is fixed, a duct being provided between the tube and fitment for liquid communication thereto.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1983Date of Patent: March 4, 1986Assignee: Kimberly-Clark LimitedInventors: David Maddison, Christopher Dawson

Patent number: 4547978Abstract: A boot or shoe 10 has its upper lasted to an insole 12 made from leather or a permeable plastics material, and a sole unit 13 is bonded to the lasted upper and the insole. The sole unit is moulded from a resilient plastics material and is formed with a multiplicity of cavities 15 opening to its top surface underlying the insole and open topped channels extending between the cavities. Bulges 17 are formed on the bottom surface of the sole unit at the locations of the cavities. The act of walking causes the bulges to be compressed and to pump air along the channels to others of the cavities so as to disperse perspiration from the insole. The cavities preferably have a restricted cross-sectional area 18 where they communicate with the channels.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1983Date of Patent: October 22, 1985Assignee: Clarks LimitedInventor: Alfred D.
