  • Patent number: 7967226
Abstract: A drying mill for powdered or fine-grained material, in particular also suitable for calcining gypsum, employs a housing, in which a feed device for fuel gas, opening into a lower region, a comminuting device and a material inlet, charging the material onto the comminuting device from above, are provided one above the other, a material outlet leading to the outside from an upper region of a working chamber and a return leading downwards to the comminuting device, the comminuting device being a centrifugal disc which rotates in a horizontal plane and interacts with an impact casing arranged on the inside of the housing. A nozzle ring surrounding the centrifugal disc from below is provided for feeding fuel gas into the working chamber. As a result, the calcining process in particular is assisted in an efficient way by utilizing the thermal energy of the hot gas fed into the working chamber by means of the nozzle ring and the dwell time in the working chamber. A corresponding comminuting method is provided.

  • Publication number: 20110150750
Abstract: A method for the calcination of powdery or fine-particled plaster includes steps in which the plaster is subjected to a flash-calcination in a calcinator and then post-calcinated in a reaction vessel. The post-calcination is carried out in the reaction vessel by adding humid gas, the reaction vessel not being heated. This post-calcination takes place over a long period of time, that is at least 10 times, preferably 50-100 times longer than, the amount of time taken for flash calcination. Complete calcination can take place without expending additional energy, and the remaining dihydrate produced during the flash calcination is also transformed into semi-hydrate and undesired anhydrite fractions are reduced. The method ensures consistency in the product quality and also increases product quality. The temperature in the upstream calcinator can be lowered to save energy. The method can also be used to accelerate the ageing of calcined plaster.

  • Publication number: 20100170103
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling bulk material with a grate flowed through by cooling gas. The apparatus comprises a plurality of planks configured to move forward and back in the direction of conveyance and, between the planks, a sealing device having spatially separate outer and inner sealing elements. The sealing device has between the sealing elements a conveying duct, which runs along the length of the planks and on which a gas supply is configured to produce a gas stream along the length of the conveying duct. Bulk material which has infiltrated through the outer sealing element can be transported away before it can reach and migrate through the inner sealing element. The accompanying sealing effect can considerably reduce the undesirable material through-fall, while enabling the use of low-wearing seals, which provide excellent wear resistance.

  • Publication number: 20090269149
Abstract: An apparatus for pneumatically conveying bulk material comprising a conveying pipe, a conveying gas source, and a plurality of removal points. The conveying pipe forms a conveying path for the bulk material. The conveying gas source is connected to the conveying pipe and is configured to supply conveying gas in the direction of the conveying path. The removal points allow gas to be removed from the conveying pipe. The removal points are arranged on the conveying pipe at a distance from one another along the conveying path, and are adjustable in terms of quantity of gas flow to be removed from the conveying pipe. Controlled removal of excess gas from the conveying pipe can therefore be achieved to reduce the gas velocity, such that the conveying remains steady and stable without a stepwise increase in the cross section of the conveying pipe along the conveying path.

  • Publication number: 20090249637
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling bulk material, comprising a grate having a device to feed cooling gas, conveying elements configured to convey a layer of the bulk material along a conveying direction, and a planar blowout device. The grate forms a substantially smooth supporting surface for the layer of the bulk material. The supporting surface is provided at least partially with the planar blowout device. The planar blowout device has a fabric as a spatially extended dispersion element on which the bulk material directly rests, and a support structure arranged under the fabric. Webs arranged transverse to the conveying direction can result in pockets that enable a stationary layer composed of cooling material to be located above the dispersion elements.

  • Patent number: 7395917
Abstract: The invention includes a method and an apparatus for treating, in particular cooling, a layer of bulk material by means of a stream of gas passed through it on a grate. The grate includes a plurality of elongated planks which extend in a conveying direction and are driven in advancing and return strokes in the conveying direction in such a manner that at least two adjacent planks are moved forwardly simultaneously and are moved backwardly non-simultaneously. Since the material located on a plank which is being moved back is prevented from completely following the plank moving back by the friction generated with the material located above the adjacent planks or with the wall, the conveying effect in the conveying direction outweighs the conveying effect in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 7316258
Abstract: A method for producing hollow grinding bodies for comminuting material to be ground uses a casting mold having a cavity and includes arranging a core in the cavity with retaining elements to produce a shell-type intermediate space. At least in the area of the intermediate space a metallic material is used as a covering for the retaining elements and fuses with the casting material. The corresponding grinding body has fused-in coverings which improve the rolling behavior of the grinding body produced as only small openings are required to remove the retaining elements. Since the fusing of the metal covering into the edge area of the openings has the effect of a composite casting, even brittle materials do not suffer from chipping.
