    Abstract: The engine crankcase is connected to the intake manifold of carburetor engines through a poppet valve with spring adjusted so that the valve is closed while starting, partly open while idling, closed during acceleration and wide open during deceleration whereby to maintain relatively uniform optimum vacuum in the manifold. The crankcase is also connected with the intake air cleaner. Both sides of V-type engines are connected to the valve inlet.
