Abstract: A safety device (12) is disclosed for use in a hydraulic pump system (10). The device includes a generator (20) mounted between the power take off (14) and the hydraulic pump (24). Any time the hydraulic pump (24) is operated by the pto shaft (18) of the power take off (14), the generator is also powered to generate power to operate an audible alarm (28) such as a horn, siren or bell to warn the operator of pump operation. In a second embodiment, hydraulic pump system (100) uses a standard, readily available alternator (102) to generate power to operate the audible alarm (28). A selector valve (202) can be positioned between the pump (24) and lift cylinder to divert hydraulic fluid to a reservoir if the pump is inadvertently activated. The selector valve (202) can be operated manually by the driver when the vehicle is about to be put in motion by operating a control valve (212) or automatically by sensing vehicle motion, such as done by sensors in an ABS brake control.

Abstract: A tape applicator includes a frame. A blade is affixed to the frame. A guard is mounted on the frame and extends from the frame beyond the edge of the blade. The guard is deflected as the tape is drawn across the blade.

Abstract: A twist tie feed device is provided for twisting together the ends of a tie ribbon which encircles a product including a base plate. A twist head assembly is mounted on the base plate and receives a first end of a tie ribbon which encircles the product and a second end of the encircling tie ribbon and will rotate about itself to twist the tie ribbon about the article. Two positive drive wheels feed the ribbon in one of a first direction towards the twist head assembly and a second direction away from the twist head assembly so that the wheels contact the ribbon at its top and bottom to apply a positive drive force to the drive ribbon as it passes between the drive wheels. A drive assembly is operatively coupled to the twist head assembly and the drive wheels for driving the positive drive wheels and twist head assembly.

Abstract: The bag closing apparatus includes a horizontal plate for supporting a coiled strip of bag closure tags, a channel having a width corresponding to the thickness of the bag closure tags and a height greater than the height of the bag closure tags. The channel terminates with an inclined surface such that the upper surface of the tag can be exposed with the entrance to the opening within the tag lying substantially flush with the inclined surface. When a bag to be closed is slid manually downward along the inclined surface, the crushed end of the bag enters the opening in the closure tag and is seated therein. The bag and the closure tag are then manually slid until the closure tag leaves the channel and is broken from the strip. In the process of clearing the first closure tag, engaged with a bag, from the channel, the next following closure tag is brought into position to receive the next bag to be closed.

Abstract: In a device for automatic tying of packages, the raising of an arm and insertion of a package to be tied, followed by lowering of the arm, automatically draws from a reel the requisite quantity of twist-tape, cuts the tape away from the reel and ties the twist-tape into a knot. The twist-tape is the paper or vinyl tie having a soft wire sandwiched between two layers of the paper or vinyl material.

Abstract: The present invention involves a tag pin group comprised of single unit tag pins each of which has a transverse bar portion, a filament portion extending perpendicular to the transverse bar portion and a connecting portion to connect the transverse bar portion to a connecting bar on which each of the tag pin units is contained and where each tag pin has a head portion connected at one end of the filament such that at least one edge portion of the head portion slopes away from the transverse bar portion from the point where the head portion is connected to the filament.
