Abstract: A computer-implemented method of optimizing a computer resource configuration in a cloud environment to provision an information technology service includes determining performance objectives for a provisioned information technology service. Constraints for the provisioned information technology service based on the determined performance objectives are determined. A desired computer resource configuration to achieve the determined performance objectives for the provisioned information technology service and to meet the determined constraints for the provisioned information technology service is determined. Then a computer resource configuration is compared with the desired resource configuration to determine configuration actions wherein the configuration actions comprise transitioning a computer resource in the computer resource configuration to a new computer resource configuration.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of adjusting a resource credit configuration for cloud resources that includes collecting a resource credit inventory and attributing metadata related to resources from one or more cloud resources. An expected resource demand is determined. A plurality of resource credit configurations is determined that matches the determined expected resource demand. An improved resource credit benefit based on the resource credit inventory and on the plurality of credit configurations is determined that matches the determined expected resource demand. A modified attribute metadata based on the determined improved resource credit benefit is then determined.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of executing a policy-based operation on a shared computer infrastructure includes storing in a computer memory a dynamically extensible metadata system that is in communication with a processor that executes policy-based operations, where the dynamically extensible metadata system includes a data structure, a collection method, a policy processing method, and a policy condition. The collection method is then executed to collect data from a first computer resource in the shared computer infrastructure using a first data structure and from a second computer resource in the shared computer infrastructure using a second data structure, where the first data structure and the second data structure are different data structures. The collected data is then processed with the policy processing method to determine if the collected data meets the policy condition.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of determining value of a shared computer infrastructure to a group includes collecting data from a shared computer infrastructure. An association between one or more workloads and the group based on the collected data is determined using a rule-based engine. A value to the group of the one or more workloads is then determined based on a value allocation rule.
