Abstract: The present invention pertains to new alkali swellable thickening emulsions, free of surfactants and solvents other than water: as a result, all drawbacks related to the use of solvents, or to the formation of foam in the case of surfactants, are avoided. These new emulsions contain a certain quantity of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (or AMPS, CAS #: 40623-75-4). They have proven effective at thickening aqueous mediums, particularly water-based paints, paper coatings, aqueous suspensions of mineral materials, detergents, cosmetic formulations, or formulations containing a hydraulic binder.

These copolymers give a styling effect and an elimination of rinsing. The invention also relates to a cosmetic formulation containing such structures as well as a hair treatment process based on this formulation.
Abstract: A first object of the invention is a process for thickening of an aqueous composition, through the introduction into the said composition for thickening of at least one polymer, characterized in that the said polymer contains at least one anionic monomer, which is an organophosphate monomer.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an aqueous solution of comb-branched polymers, having a (meth)acrylic skeleton functionalized by side-chains with hydrophilic alcoxy- or hydroxy-polyalkylene glycol functions, said solution remaining stable and workable at dry solids content levels greater than 60% of its weight. The invention also pertains to a method for manufacturing such solutions, as well as their use as a plasticizing agent, and hydraulic binder-based compositions containing them.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing a composition characterized in that it comprises the steps of: a) preparing an aqueous solution of at least one comb polymer of (meth)acrylic acid onto which is grafted a function of alkoxy and/or hydroxy polyalkylene glycol, b) preparing an aqueous emulsion of at least one acrylic thickener, c) mixing the aqueous solution from step a) with the aqueous emulsion from step b), possibly adding water, and in that one partially neutralizes the comb polymer during step a) and/or step c), in such a way as to obtain a mixture whose pH is between 5.5 and 6.8, preferentially between 5.8 and 6.3. The invention also concerns the product obtained and its utilization in a paper coating for paper, as a thickening agent for said coating and/or as a water retention agent for said coating and/or as an agent improving the brightness and/or the optical azuration of the paper coated with said coating.
Abstract: The present invention provides weakly ionic polymeric additives that, when used in aqueous suspensions of commercial mineral fillers (dispersed with an anionic polymer), enable the introduction of organic or mineral salts in significant quantities without causing a destabilization of the medium. The suspension are useful in the formulation of a paper coating color designed for an application of the ink-jet type.
Abstract: New associative polyurethanes which are manufactured with cardanol which is potentially oxyethylated. Use of these polyurethanes as thickening agents for aqueous formulations.
Abstract: The invention concerns a process to manufacture a thermoplastic resin charged with mineral or carbonated matter, and possibly containing an organic impact modifier, through the introduction into the said resin of a comb polymer with at least one ethylenic unsaturation monomer, to which is grafted at least one polyalkylene oxide function. The resins then obtained which also form the subject of the invention have an improved impact resistance without their rigidity being degraded.
