Patent number: 6697719Abstract: A feature set module provides programming features for a vehicle control system. The feature set module is designed to be easily attached to or detached from an interface module of a control system. The feature set module may include a latching mechanism to secure the feature set module to the interface module. Additionally, the feature set module has terminals that communicate with terminals of the interface module.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2001Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Code Alarm, Inc.Inventors: Peter Stouffer, David Rupert, David Showalter, Michael Schroeder, Richard Graham, Mark Cohrs, Ralph Girardin, Joseph Allio, Michael Foy, Steven Schroeder, Anthony Whitehead, Gregg Gagnon, Valeriy Bodrov

Patent number: 6043734Abstract: An optical shock sensor 22 which includes a light generator 40 adapted to generate light 46 and a light detector 44 which are an optical communication by means of a moveable hemispheric dome 48. Specifically, an intrusion, tampering, motion, and/or shock, applied to vehicle 11, causes the moveable dome 48 to move, and to interrupt or change the amount tyoe, focus and/or intensity of the light 46 which is reflected or communicated to light detector 44, thereby causing a tampering output signal to be selectively produced.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1998Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: Code Alarm, Inc.Inventors: Rand W. Mueller, Peter J. Stouffer, Jon Richard Gillespie, Joseph A. Santavicca, Matthew J. McAmmond

Patent number: 5543778Abstract: A home security system includes a plurality of alarm elements; a central console including a microprocessor in wireless communication with the alarm elements and effective to receive a signal from the alarm elements; an automobile including an alarm system in wireless communication with the central console's microprocessor and effective to activate certain alarm elements when the automobile's alarm system is in close proximity to the home security system and when the automobile is started; the microprocessor being connected to a tri-state analog to digital convertor which includes a plurality of resistors whose resistance values cooperatively determined an accuracy of analog to digital conversion with respect to the received signal transmitted from the alarm elements. An EEPROM that includes gray scale conversion is also realized.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1993Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: Code-Alarm, Inc.Inventor: Peter J. Stouffer

Patent number: 5049867Abstract: A vehicle security apparatus includes a portable transmitter generating at least one discrete coded signal. A receiver mounted in the vehicle in response to the first receipt and recognition of a discrete coded signal from the transmitter arms an anti-theft system in the vehicle security apparatus. The anti-theft system includes a starter interrupt which prevents the starting of the vehicle when the anti-theft system is armed and/or alarms, both visual and/or audible, to indicate an attempted access to the vehicle. The receiver is capable of learning one or more codes associated with specific transmitters. A sensor is mounted on the vehicle to detect attempted access to the vehicle. The receiver, when armed and receiving an output from the sensor, activates the starter interrupt and/or the alarm for a predetermined time.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1988Date of Patent: September 17, 1991Assignee: Code-Alarm, Inc.Inventor: Peter J.
