  • Patent number: 5119830
Abstract: An analytical specimen cup (10) has outer and inner partitions (26, 34) in a lid (14) thereof, with the outer partition being flexible and transparent and the inner partition having a valve (46) comprised of a frangible portion (50) of the inner partition. A chemical test strip (24) is mounted in a test space (42) between the outer and inner partitions and a fluid specimen in the cup can be introduced to the chemical test strip in the test space by manipulating the frangible valve (46) to break it open via the flexible outer partition. The inner partition is formed as a one-piece lid main member (22) with most of the rest of the lid whereas the outer partition is mounted to cover an indentation (30) into a top surface of the lid main member to define the test space in the indentation.

  • Patent number: 5103850
Abstract: A crutch tip assembly (12) comprises a solid base (14) having substantially vertical side surfaces (18, 20, 54, 56) and outwardly, downwardly tapered front and rear surfaces (22, 24, 51a, 51b) with convex bottom surface (26, 52) forming an approximate arc elongated in a direction approximately parallel to the side surfaces. A laterally outwardly protruding lip (28, 50) is positioned adjacent the bottom surface near bottom edges of the side, front and rear surfaces on which a resilient boot (16, 70) having the shape of a rocker is mounted. The resilient boot defines a mounting cavity (36, 72) for snugly receiving the solid-base bottom surface and the lip for holding the boot on the solid base. An elongated, centered, arch-shaped groove (38, 74) extends along a bottom surface of the boot. The solid base is attached to a single support 33 at a lower end of a crutch frame 34 by means of a tongue (30, 68) and groove (32) joint and alternately an adhesive or other affixing means.

  • Patent number: 5049135
Abstract: An improved medical lavage apparatus (10) includes guide/lock/stop tabs (122) which are inserted through a medical lavage syringe housing (20) into irrigation and aspiration bores (30, 34) thereof for engaging longitudinal ribs (68a-d, 69a-d) of irrigation and aspiration plungers (24, 26) to prevent their rotation and a circumferential latch rib 134a of the aspiration plunger for locking the aspiration plunger in an inserted position. The tabs also contact end circumferential ribs 70' of the plungers for providing stops to prevent the plungers from being removed from their respective bores. The tabs comprise two legs (126) which straddle the longitudinal ribs, with a longitudinal rib 68a of the aspiration plunger having a notch (140) at the tab in the aspiration bore to allow rotation of the aspiration plunger when it is in the inserted position for engaging the legs with the circumferential latch rib.
