Patent number: 10312659Abstract: This disclosure provides methods and apparatuses which advantageously stabilize beam parameters and elongate crystal lifetime. In one aspect, a UV laser apparatus includes a non-linear crystal, a laser source, a beam-crystal displacer, a beam parameter monitor, and a laser control unit. The laser source directs a source beam to the non-linear crystal to produce a UV beam and the beam-crystal displacer shifts the non-linear crystal relative to the source beam at a plurality of shift speeds. The beam parameter monitor measures the UV beam and outputs a measurement of a beam parameter. The laser control unit: receives the measurement; determines, based on the measurement, an adjustment in shift speed that steers the beam parameter toward a target value; and outputs the adjustment to the beam-crystal displacer.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2018Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Assignee: COHERENT LASERSYSTEMS GMBH & CO. Patent number: 10247952Abstract: In a laser line projection apparatus, six spaced-apart unpolarized laser-beams are plane-polarized with low loss by a combination of a thin-film polarizer, a reflector, and two polarization rotators. Two beams are polarized in each of three polarization-orientations. Two of the polarization-orientations are orthogonally aligned with each other in P and S orientations. The other polarization-orientation is non-orthogonally aligned in an intermediate orientation. The beams are intensity-homogenized and projected into a line of radiation. Any point on the line of radiation is formed from rays with an angular distribution of polarization-orientation from S to P through the intermediate orientation and back to S through the intermediate orientation.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2016Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: COHERENT LASERSYSTEMS GMBH & CO. KGInventors: Frank Simon, Thomas Wenzel, Ludwig Schwenger, Paul Van Der Wilt

Patent number: 10234765Abstract: Excimer laser annealing apparatus includes and excimer laser delivering laser-radiation pulses to a silicon layer supported on a substrate translated with respect to the laser pulses such that the consecutive pulses overlap on the substrate. The energy of each of the laser-radiation pulses is monitored, transmitted to control-electronics, and the energy of a next laser pulse is adjusted by a high-pass digital filter.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2017Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: COHERENT LASERSYSTEMS GMBH & CO. KGInventor: Igor Bragin

Patent number: 10121687Abstract: A method is disclosed evaluating a silicon layer crystallized by irradiation with pulses form an excimer-laser. The crystallization produces periodic features on the crystallized layer dependent on the number of and energy density ED in the pulses to which the layer has been exposed. An area of the layer is illuminated with light. A microscope image of the illuminated area is made from light diffracted from the illuminated are by the periodic features. The microscope image includes corresponding periodic features. The ED is determined from a measure of the contrast of the periodic features in the microscope image.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2016Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: COHERENT LASERSYSTEMS GMBH & CO. KGInventor: Paul Van Der Wilt

Patent number: 9304337Abstract: A Faraday rotator includes two magnet sub-assemblies assemblies spaced apart and aligned with each other with a gap therebetween. Each magnet sub-assembly includes a central magnet magnetized in direction parallel to the gap. The central magnet is sandwiched between two end magnets magnetized in a direction perpendicular to the gap. A magneto-optic crystal is located in the gap between the central magnets.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2014Date of Patent: April 5, 2016Assignee: COHERENT LASERSYSTEMS GMBHInventors: Peter Ebenwalder, Sebastian Koke, Stefan Spiekermann
