Abstract: An oral care implement has a user-interactive display that displays images representing oral care regions of the mouth. The user can interact with the display by playing a game, which can relate to oral care. An oral care implement has a plurality of lighted segments that can be sequentially illuminated to indicate a recommended brushing sequence. The lighted segments can be shaped and/or labeled to indicate particular oral care regions of the mouth. In accordance with another aspect, an oral care implement can be equipped with features to encourage social interaction between two or more individuals.

Abstract: The invention provides a single phase whitening dentifrice that includes (i) a whitening agent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen peroxide, a bound peroxide and a solid peroxide (ii) an abrasive and (iii) a substantially anhydrous orally acceptable carrier, for example, polyethylene glycol. The bound peroxide may be hydrogen peroxide and a polymer and/or any peroxide compound and a porous cross-linked polymer, such as polymers of polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyacrylates, a polymethacrylates, and a polyitaconates. The solid peroxide may be sodium perborate or urea peroxide. The invention also provides methods of whitening the tooth surfaces by contacting the surface with the composition.

Abstract: The invention describes the modification of polyamine-based materials to form polyguanidine compounds that are useful for their antimicrobial, anticaries, and muccoadhesive properties. The present invention also relates to methods for preventing or treating periodontal disease and caries which include delivering a therapeutically effective amount of an oral composition containing a polyguanidine compound into an oral cavity.
Abstract: An oral care composition and method are described in which the composition includes a film or a plurality of film fragments entrained in a carrier. The film or plurality of film fragments comprises a zinc compound and the carrier comprises a polysaccharide and a maleic anhydride copolymer. The composition and methods provide benefits including one or more of increased consumer acceptability, improved solubility of zinc thus permitting the use of lower amounts of zinc compounds and reducing the adverse astringency associated with zinc, decreased adverse reactions brought about by the presence of zinc ions, enhanced aesthetics, improved stability for active or other functional materials, and controlled delivery of active materials such as zinc.

Abstract: The present invention provides an oral composition comprising a polymer, preferably a copolymer of methyl vinyl ether and maleic anhydride, attached to a sweetening agent via a cleavable linker, comprising a covalent bond, preferably an ester bond or an amide bond wherein the polymer is capable of attaching to a surface in an oral cavity, and the cleavable linker is cleavable in the oral cavity to release the sweetening agent.
Abstract: Disclosed are dentifrice compositions comprising an orally acceptable vehicle and at least one source of metal ions in a polymer matrix, the metal being selected from zinc, stannous, copper or combinations thereof, the at least one source of metal ions comprising from 10 to 75 wt % of the total weight of the polymer matrix and the at least one source of metal ions, and wherein the dentifrice composition comprises less than 10 wt % water based on the total weight of the dentifrice composition. Also disclosed is a method of stabilizing at least one source of metal ions in a dentifrice compositions.
