  • Publication number: 20100003627
Abstract: A lighting device for cigarettes and cigars having an upright elongate body, a lid openable approximately ninety angular degrees from the body, a nozzle for producing a flame and directing the flame from the body at an angled direction between the body and the lid. The proximity of the flame base to the lid protects the flame from being inadvertently extinguished, while the distance of the flame tip from the lid allows the lighting of large diameter cigars and avoids overheating of the lid.

  • Publication number: 20090170045
Abstract: A cigarette lighter has a body portion with a fuel supply, an igniter for causing combustion of fuel from the fuel supply, a nozzle for causing the combusted fuel into a flame of a desired shape, an actuator for causing release of fuel from the fuel supply to the igniter then actuation of the igniter to cause the combustion, and a lid affixed to the body and movable between a closed state wherein the lid covers the nozzle and an open sated wherein the lid exposes the nozzle. Upon completion of use, the actuator also causes movement of the lid from the open state to the closed state.

  • Publication number: 20090133705
Abstract: A cigar punching tool has a tubular housing and a tubular gripping portion surrounding the housing and longitudinally movable relative thereto between a forward position and a rearward position displaced rearwardly there-from. A tubular blade is surrounded by the housing and has a hollow interior and a circular cutting edge disposed forwardly of the gripping portion. The blade is longitudinally movable relative to the housing between a storage position in which the cutting edge is rearwardly retracted into the housing and a cutting position in which the cutting edge projects forwardly from the housing.

  • Publication number: 20090113719
Abstract: A cigar cutting apparatus has a housing defining a hole for receiving a cigar head, the hole having a hole diameter and defining a hole axis central thereto. First and second cutting blades lie within and are pivotable relative to the housing about first and second pivot axes, respectively. The first and second pivot axes are disposed on a line separated from the hole axis by at least the hole diameter and separately disposed by at least the hole diameter. Each cutting blade has a cutting edge pivotable with the associated cutting blade and directed toward the cutting edge of the other cutting blade. The cutting blades cooperate with the hole to define a passageway for receiving a cigar head when the cutting blades are pivoted away from each other, and the cutting edges cooperate to slice through the cigar head as the cutting blades are pivoted towards each other. The cutting blades come together to block the passageway.

  • Publication number: 20090113718
Abstract: A cigar cutter has a body formed of a pair of plates having aligning orifices defining a passage for the head of a cigar to be cut. A pair of opposed cutting blades, movable toward and away from each other within the body each have a cutting edge, which cooperates with the opposing cutting edge during toward movement to cut the cigar head. Each of a pair of bridges is affixed to one of the cutting blades and moveable therewith. A spring engages the bridges and biases them toward an extended position wherein the cutting edges are moved away from each other within the body. A latch automatically engages both of the blades approximate the inward terminus of their toward movement and maintains the blades in a retracted storage position wherein the edges are not exposed. The cutting edges are each inwardly tapered to cause the edges and the cigar to cooperate to force the opposing blades together during their toward movement to automatically sharpen the blades.

  • Publication number: 20090068603
Abstract: A cigarette lighter has a fuel cartridge for use therewith that may be removable there-from. In the exemplary embodiment, the fuel cartridge has a reservoir for holding a flammable liquid fuel, and includes a valve having a closed state for denying escape of the fuel from the reservoir and an open state for allowing such escape. The lighter has an ignition actuator for causing ignition of the escaped fuel when the ignition actuator is actuated, a nozzle for causing the ignited fuel to form a lighting flame, and a valve actuator cooperating with the ignition actuator to open the valve as the ignition actuator is actuated. In the exemplary embodiment, the reservoir has a transparent portion and the lighter housing is an opaque shell surrounding the reservoir with a viewing window there-through. The viewing window is aligned with the transparent portion of the reservoir to allow external observation of the amount of fuel within said chamber.

  • Publication number: 20090068602
Abstract: The exemplary embodiment is a reservoir for use with a cigarette lighter has a chamber for containing gas and liquid fuel and a lens made of a transparent material and having an internal surface adjacent the chamber. The internal surface allows optical transmission of visible light into and from the liquid fuel when in contact therewith, but denies the transmission of light into the gas when in contact therewith. The internal surface is contoured such that the transmissions are facilitated by optical refraction, and the denial is facilitated by optical reflection. The transmissions facilitate comparisons of the relative amounts of the liquid fuel and the gas in the chamber. The chamber has within a non-transparent object viewable through the lens during the transmissions and non-viewable through the lens during the denial. The object is a planar panel disposed substantially parallel to and displaced from the internal surface.
