Abstract: A flame lighter has a blue flame burner and a luminous flame burner supplied with gaseous fuel from a reservoir through separate valves, and a single ignition mechanism. A first operation ignites the blue flame burner and a second operation opens the valve for the luminous flame burner so that the luminous flame is ignited from the heat of the blue flame burner, whenever a luminous flame is desired.
Abstract: A gas burning lighter with electrical spark ignition has a closed casing (11). Successive downward operative movements applied to an actuator slide (15) first releases a pivotal element (23) which moves outwards to an open position, creating a flame aperture (33) and opening a burner valve, and secondly operates a piezoelectric ignition mechanism to cause discharge of a spark and ignition of the gas to produce a flame (35).
Abstract: A lighter utilizing a piezoelectric spark ignition system comprises a casing composed of a casing body having hinged at one end a casing lid for opening and closing the casing. A fuel reservoir tank having a burner at its upper end is mounted within the casing body adjacent the end of the casing remote from that at which the casing lid is hinged. A piezoelectric spark generating unit is mounted in the casing body adjacent the end at which the casing lid is hinged and is situated side by side with the fuel reservoir tank. The piezoelectric unit is actuated in response to manually depressing an actuating member mounted along one of the sides of the casing. The burner and actuating member are situated at the upper part of the casing and are substantially concealed beneath the casing lid when the lid is in its closed position. The burner and actuating member are exposed for use upon upward swinging movement of the casing lid from its closed position.
