Abstract: An ostomy leakage detection system includes an ostomy appliance and a monitor. The ostomy appliance has a central opening and is attachable to an existing base plate of an ostomy device. The ostomy appliance includes an adhesive, an electrode assembly located distal to the adhesive, a top layer located distal to the electrode assembly, and a monitor interface disposed on the top layer and having terminal elements electrically communicating with the electrode assembly. During use, the electrode assembly senses leakage of stoma output in an area around the stoma opening formed in the base plate, and the monitor, when mechanically attached to the monitor interface of the ostomy appliance, electrically communicates with the electrode assembly through the terminal elements to allow the monitor to inform the user of the sensed leakage of stoma output in the area around the stoma opening.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method, performed in an accessory device, for communicating the operating state of the ostomy appliance, which in turn enables a monitoring of the ostomy appliance at the accessory device. The accessory device comprises an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of an ostomy system. The one or more devices comprise a monitor device, and/or an ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user or on any additional seals. The method comprises obtaining monitor data from the one or more devices. The monitor data is indicative of a condition of the ostomy appliance. The method may comprise determining an operating state of the ostomy appliance based on the monitor data obtained. The operating state may be indicative of adhesive performance of the ostomy appliance. The method comprises communicating the operating state of the ostomy appliance via the interface.
