Abstract: A dental post for securely retaining a dental restoration on a prepared tooth stub. The dental post is formed of an elongated cylindrical rod having intermittent thread segments which actively engage the death of the tooth stub and passive land portions in between the thread segments.
Abstract: An anchoring pin for retention of a dental restoration onto a tooth stub, the pin including an upper retention portion on which a restoration is to be formed, a lower anchoring threaded portion self-threadable in a bore pre-drilled in the tooth stub and a stop collar interconnected between the retention portion and the anchoring portion. A stepped dental drill having two coaxial drill bits of different diameters is provided, which in addition to forming the bore makes a counterbore at the mount of the bore at the exposed excavated surface of the tooth. The counterbore receives the stop collar of the anchoring pin as the latter is driven into the tooth bore thereby preventing bottoming out of the pin so as to avoid concentrated stress at the tip of the pin and also providing distribution of stress as the wider collar abuts the bottom of the counterbore.
Abstract: A disinfectant and flush system for a dental waste evacuator comprises a container filled with disinfectant and connected to the interior of a main flow tube of the evacuator, positioned between a disposable mouth piece and a suction source. A control valve is installed between a tubing leading from the disinfectant container and the main flow tube, which ensures that the disinfectant is admitted into the main flow tube during operation of the evacuator to flush the tube continually or intermittently.
Abstract: A method for restoring a tooth by endodontically preparing the tooth to accept a dental post. Polyacrylic acid solution is supplied to the prepared area afterwhich it is rinsed out and the area dried. A drying agent has been applied to the prepared area and, likewise, the area is dried out. The dental post is then secured in place through the use of a cement. Preferably, the cement is a filled resin cement with the filler material being approximately 15%-30% of the cement. The drying agent is preferably an ethyl-methyl ketone. The invention also includes a kit containing the materials for implementing the method.
