  • Patent number: 6751600
Abstract: A system and method for automatic categorization of items into categories. Machine learning establishes or updates a data structure including term weights for text fields and distributions for numeric fields, based on a sample of pre-categorized items. An automatic categorization engine processes items by referencing the data structure on a field-by-field basis, determining a ranking score for each alternative category to which an item may be assigned. A category assignment may be based on ranking scores and may be flagged for a user to review. A user interface facilitates review and confirmation of automatic category assignments, either comprehensively, as flagged by the automatic categorization engine, or according to user determined criteria.

  • Publication number: 20030187677
Abstract: A user interaction analysis system receives real-time clickstream information units from a plurality of web servers and web sessions. Each information unit is associated with a single session. The analysis system uses session identifying information that is stored in a database to process the information units, to determine context values pertaining to one particular web session, and to determine that the particular web session has terminated. Upon determining that the particular web session has terminated, the analysis system generates a per-session data unit (PSDU) for that session. Each PSDU comprises click-stream information for a plurality of clicks, as well as context values, that pertain to the particular web session. The analysis system categorizes the PSDUs into a plurality of theme buckets and performs rule-based searches on the PSDUs in the buckets to identify PSDUs that meet certain search criteria. A report containing information about the identified PSDUs is generated.

  • Patent number: 6591260
Abstract: A method and computer system are described for conducting commercial transactions by the exchange of electronic documents. The computer system includes a transaction services network, which comprises a plurality of transaction servers for providing services to support commercial transactions. Trading partners operate servers which communicate with the transaction services network via the Internet. The electronic documents are exchanged between trading partners engaged in a transaction. The documents are written in a markup language such as XML. The tags used in the document instances are defined in schemas. Each schema defines a document type, which corresponds to a type of transaction. An enhanced type of XML schema may be used which supports integrity constraints and polymorphism. Schemas are identified by the use of Uniform Resource Names.

  • Patent number: 6542912
Abstract: Machine readable documents connect businesses with customers, suppliers and trading partners. The self defining electronic documents, such as XML based documents, can be easily understood amongst the partners. Definitions of these electronics business documents, called business interface definitions, are posted on the Internet, or otherwise communicated to members of the network. The business interface definitions tell potential trading partiers the services the company offers and the documents to use when communicating with such services. Thus, a typical business interface definition allows a customer to place an order by submitting a purchase order or a supplier checks availability by downloading an inventory status report. Also, composition of the input and output documents, coupled with interpretation information in a common business library, programs the transaction in a way which closely parallels the way in which paper based businesses operate.
