Patents Assigned to Communication Systems, Inc.
  • Patent number: 9134496
Abstract: Disclosed are exemplary embodiments of a modular plug and play connectivity platform, system and method. The disclosed modular plug and play connectivity platform provides a convergent/distribution/conversion point for multiple services and transmission mediums. In exemplary embodiments, the platform includes a base plate configured to be mounted on a wall in a premises over a junction box and to support one or more data distribution or conversion modules. An interchangeable plate is securable to the base plate and provides interfaces for the one or more data distribution or conversion modules. A cover is securable to the base plate and forms an enclosure coving any data distribution or conversion modules supported by the base plate.

  • Patent number: 9093760
Abstract: A device that replaces the traditional 66 block device has improved pair-to-pair wire isolation to facilitate the transmission of both POTS and xDSL signals. The device includes a non-conductive lower member and a non-conductive upper member that retain a plurality of pairs of electrically conductive stampings therebetween. Each of the pairs of stampings is positioned to be in electric contact with each other such that a signal can be transmitted from one stamping to the other stamping. The stampings are utilized to electrically connect external telecommunication wires to internal telecommunications wires. Each toggle of a plurality of toggles is independently and pivotally connected to the upper member and includes a through bore for accepting an end of a wire that is accessible to an installer when the toggle is in an open, un-terminated position. Each of the toggles are movable from the open, un-terminated position to a closed, terminated position.

  • Patent number: 5934934
Abstract: A connector for connecting electrical wires includes a housing or enclosure that surrounds contacts for making a connection to a plug. The housing is filled with a colloidal gel environmental protection material that includes particles that will absorb electromagnetic radiation, particularly in the radio frequency range to form a colloidal gel. The gel can be any one of the existing polyurethane, or silicone based gels used for environmental protection of connectors, such as telephone jacks. The particles are preferably made from either Parites or ferrites and range in size from 5 microns to 100 microns. The loading of the particles can be between 5% and 80% of the overall weight of the finished colloidal gel. The colloidal gel can be formed so that it is sufficiently cohesive to form into strips that can be wrapped around connectors as well.

  • Patent number: 5173718
Abstract: A scanning head comprises a support member for supporting the head in pressing contact with a platen. The support member has lower strength portions spaced longitudinally of the head, and higher strength portions alternate with the lower strength portions. The support member is easily bendable at the lower strength portions, and the higher strength portions are urged by springs toward the platen. Thus, the head can come into intimate pressing contact with the platen even if the surface flatness of the support member as a whole is not strictly realized.

  • Patent number: 4480374
Abstract: A tool connects plugs to the ends of communication wires and in particular is used with modular type communication plugs. The tool includes two relatively pivoted handle members that are restrained in the amount that they can be separated and which include a punch that will positively force connector tangs of a plug positioned in a provided receptacle in the tool into the ends of wires of a communication cord to properly and positively connect the individual wires of the cord to the proper terminal of the plug as the handles are squeezed. The tool also has knives which can be used for stripping a specified length from the end of the outer sheath from the insulated wires before inserting the wires into a plug carried in a close fitting receptacle in one of the handle members. The punch has separated lands or bars that separately bear against each contact tang of the plug and in this way force the connecting tang into the individual communication wires.

  • Patent number: 4451106
Abstract: A communication cover plate and jack assembly includes a cover plate and a jack body removably attached to the cover plate. The cover plate has a pair of parallel resilient wall portions extending outwardly therefrom with each cover plate wall portion having an integral lug. The jack body has a pair of parallel jack body sidewall portions each having integral ridges extending outwardly therefrom. The sidewall portions of the jack body fit between the wall portions of the cover plate with the lugs and the ridges being in interfering relationship with each other securely holding the jack body and the cover plate together.

  • Patent number: 4382649
Abstract: A multiple cable connector box conductively connects a plurality of multi-conductor cables. Each cable has a first multi-contact connector which is conductively connectable to a second multi-contact connector supported within the multiple cable connector box. The box or housing has a plurality of openings with each multi-conductor cable extending through one of the openings. A plurality of flexible retaining posts can hold each second multi-contact connector within the box in at least two positions such that each cable can extend into the box through at least one of two different openings by changing the second connector's position within the box. Each opening not having one of the cables extending therethrough is closed off with a cover.
