Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for rewarding a commuter. A value of a characteristic of a commute by the commuter along a route from a first location to a second location is determined. The value of the characteristic is compared with a reference value for the characteristic for travel by the commuter along the route from the first location to the second location to determine that the determined value deviates from the reference value by more than a threshold amount. A reward to the commuter is generated in response to determining that the determined value deviates from the reference value by more than the threshold amount.
