  • Patent number: 4893110
Abstract: In order to monitor gas leakage in the tires of a vehicle, absolute gas psure and temperature in the tires are first simultaneously measured. A ratio of the measured pressure to the measured temperature for reach of the tires is then calculated. The calculated ratios are then compared to produce an indicator N and an alarm is issued when this indicator N deviates from a predetermined range of values.

  • Patent number: 4823107
Abstract: A device and electric circuit mounted on a wheel of a vehicle and to transmit via bearings an electrical signal for measurement of parameters such as the pressure and temperature of the tire. The measurement is made based on the conduction state of a semiconductor element coupled to a sensor sensing the tire pressure and/or temperature. Specifically observed are three resistances of sufficient different values: the resistance of a semiconductor element in the on-state, a resistance R.sub.o two orders of magnitude greater than the preceding one and the internal resistance of at least one semiconductor element in the off-state. The sensor and circuit ar integrated in a standard valve. In one embodiment, it is possible to operate an electric element mounted on the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4520856
Abstract: In order to reduce the heating at the edges of the tread reinforcement plies, the additional working ply has an axial width which is between 1.05 times the axial width of the tread and 1.1 times the maximum axial width of the radial carcass reinforcement. The cables of this additional working ply follow a geodesic trace and form an angle of between 25.degree. and 65.degree. with the equatorial plane of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4261406
Abstract: A spare tire which is expandable by inflation, having a radial carcass reinforcement anchored to at least one bead ring in each bead and having a tread reinforcement formed of at least two plies of cables which are parallel in each ply and crossed from one ply to the next and form acute angles with the longitudinal direction of the tire, is improved due to the fact that the plies are composed of cables whose elasticity decreases as the inflation pressure increases and as the tire passes from the collapsed condition to the expanded condition ready for travel.

  • Patent number: 3949799
Abstract: The tread reinforcement of a high-speed radial tire comprises at least one folded ply of twisted metal cords. The direction of the fold of the ply, the direction of the inclination of the cords with respect to the circumferential direction of the tire, and the direction of the twist of the cords are such, relative to one another, that the cords are relatively untwisted at the fold. Thus, in the case where the ply is folded radially outward, the folded ply and the cords composing it are both type S or both type Z, while in the case where the ply is folded radially inward, the folded ply and the cords composing it are of opposite S/Z type.
