Abstract: A method for dynamically adjusting central processing unit (CPU) frequency. Firstly, a translation table is provided between multi-layer of CPU usage percentage and front-side bus operation frequency. Secondly, a current usage percentage of the CPU is obtained. Lastly, the operation frequency of the front-side bus is adjusted to a corresponding layer according to the current usage rage, so that the current usage rage is located within the range of CPU usage percentage that is defined by corresponding layer.
Abstract: A pivotal hinge mechanism for a mobile computer may include a swivel seat, a support seat, and first and second pivot mounting parts. The swivel seat and the support seat cooperate to form a pivot joint that allows the swivel seat to swivel through 180 degrees with respect to the support seat. The first and second pivot mounting parts swivel about an axis that is perpendicular to the axis of the swivel seat's rotation.
Abstract: A fastener module for portable computers that is disposed on the host of a portable computer to fasten the LCD with the host, no matter whether the LCD is closed directly or after rotating 180 degrees; the fastener module has a pivotable eccentric hook rod biased in a normal horizontal position when not affected by magnetic effect, when the LCD closes on the host of the computer, both sides of the hook rod are affected by the magnetic effect of the magnetic component on the LCD; since the pivot of the hook rod is designed eccentrically, the magnetic moment generated by the magnetic effect for each side of the hook rod is different, so that the hook rod changes its position instantly from the normal horizontal state to a vertical state and hooks within the opening of the LCD to fasten the LCD onto the host of the portable computer.

Abstract: A lighting keyboard and lighting module for a keyboard is disclosed. The lighting module comprises a light source, a backlight plate having a surface with light-reflective protrusions and a light-reflecting plate. In one embodiment, the thickness of the backlight plate varies linearly and the light source is located on the thicker side of the backlight plate. The light-reflecting plate reflects light beams reflected from the surface with light-reflective protrusions of the backlight plate and renders the keyboard illuminated.

Abstract: A foldable support structure suitable for a notebook is provided. The notebook includes a keyboard, a circuit board, and a support frame, disposed above the circuit board for carrying the edge of the keyboard. The support structure is disposed inside an opening of the support frame for supporting the bottom of the keyboard. The support structure and the support frame are fabricated as a whole. The support structure includes a flexibility section, a support section and a pedestal section. The flexibility section is connected to the support frame and the support section. The pedestal section is connected to the support section. The deformed flexibility section keeps the support section away from the circuit board. The support section has a support surface for supporting the keyboard. The pedestal section is suitable for connecting the circuit board such that a distance is kept between the support section and the circuit board.
Abstract: An improved pivotal hinge mechanism used for portable computer equipped with a stopper device which when portable computer and a docking station are joined together shall be actuated by the docking station to prevent the LCD of the portable computer from rotating in left and right direction, so that the collision happened between the docking station and the LCD of the portable computer due to rotation of the LCD relative to the computer mainframe shall be avoided; when the portable computer is disconnected from the docking station said stopper device shall immediately return to the normal position so that the LCD of the portable computer can rotate again in an angle of 0–180 degrees in left and right direction with respect to the computer mainframe.
Abstract: A display panel supporting device with cushion mechanism comprising a fixed supporting column, a sliding column fitted into the supporting column and arranged to move in sliding manner relative to the fixed supporting column for adjusting the height of the display panel and a cushion mechanism installed between the fixed supporting column and the sliding column and arranged to move synchronously with the sliding column, and the cushion mechanism has the effect of increasing the friction force between the supporting column and the sliding column, and the friction force can remain unchanged even after a long period of use that can improve the function of height adjusting, and prolong the service life of the display panel supporting device.
Abstract: A video signal converter receives an input video signal from a host and transmits an output video signal to a detachable display module of a portable computer. The video signal converter includes a base, a latch unit and a video processing unit. The base supports the display module thereon. The latch unit engages removably the display module when the display module is supported on the base. The video signal processing unit is operable so as to convert the input video signal into the output video signal that is suitable for use by the display module.
Abstract: A computer device includes a power managing controller coupled to a system controller, which in turn is coupled to an optical disk drive via an IDE bus, and operable in a normal mode, where electric power is supplied to the system controller, and a suspend mode, where electric power to the system controller is disrupted. A control key set is coupled to a keyboard controller that is coupled to the system controller and the power managing controller, and that is further coupled to the optical disk drive via a serial bus. The keyboard controller generates a control signal in accordance with operation of the control key set and received directly by the optical disk drive via the serial bus when the power managing controller operates in the suspend mode for controlling operation of the optical disk drive.
Abstract: A wireless transceiver includes a circuit board, a Bluetooth module, an antenna unit and an electrical connector. The circuit board has a component mounting side to be disposed so as to confront the electronic device. The Bluetooth module and the antenna unit are mounted on the component mounting side and are connected electrically to the circuit board. The electrical connector is mounted on the circuit board and is adapted to connect electrically the wireless transceiver to the electronic device. The antenna unit has a radiating direction that is directed toward the electronic device, is adapted to cooperate with the electronic device to form a shielding space, and is adapted to form a virtual transmission source internally of the electronic device. The shielding space and the virtual transmission source cooperate to protect the wireless transceiver from interference.

Abstract: A method for attaching an IC package to a circuit board, the IC package having a plurality of electrical contacts in an arrangement having a perimeter, first positions the IC package adjacent to the circuit board. Then, electrically connects the IC package to the circuit board through the plurality of electrical contacts. The method finally, disposes at least one anchor mechanically attaching the IC package to the circuit board, the anchor disposed at a location outside of the perimeter of the plurality of electrical contacts. The type, quantity, and exact geometry of the anchors depend on the specific design parameters of the IC package and circuit board.
Abstract: A thermal module with temporary heat storage. The thermal module includes a heat storage, a heat absorber, a heat dissipater, and a heat pipe for rapidly transferring heat from the heat absorber to the heat dissipater. The heat storage includes a phase change material and is in contact with the heat pipe. When heat quantities generated by the system are greater than a predefined reasonable thermal target, heat in excess of the thermal target is temporarily absorbed into the heat storage through the melting of the PCM. When the heat quantities generated by the system are again less than the thermal target, the PCM re-freezes, releasing the stored heat to be dissipated normally.
Abstract: A portable electronic apparatus includes a host module, a display module, and a folding pivot module interconnecting the host and display modules. The pivot module includes first and second module members. The host module is connected pivotally to the first module member. The first module member is formed with a receiving cavity and is connected pivotally to the second module member. The display module is connected pivotally to the second module member. The second module member is received in the receiving cavity when in a folded position.
Abstract: An add-on card for a personal digital assistant (PDA) for wireless communication includes a connector for connecting to the PDA, a power managing circuit connected to the connector for storing a first current supplied from the connector, and a radio-frequency (RF) circuit for transmitting an RF signal corresponding to a signal from the connector or transmitting a signal to the PDA via the connector according to a received RF signal. The power managing circuit is electrically connected to the RF circuit. When the RF circuit transmits the RF signal, the power managing circuit will provide a second current to the RF circuit.
Abstract: A rectangular personal digital assistant (PDA) includes a rectangular housing having a front side facing towards users and four corners, a computer circuit installed in the housing for providing data processing services, a socket installed in one of the four corners and electrically connected to the computer circuit, and a peripheral module having a case and an input/output peripheral circuit removably and electrically connected to the socket. When the peripheral module is installed in the socket, the case of the peripheral module coupled to the corner of the PDA housing will form an integrated corner of the PDA housing.
