Patents Assigned to Companie Generale des Etablissements Michelin
  • Patent number: 10493711
Abstract: A system for the continuous extrusion, molding, and curing of tread rubber is provided. A plurality of discrete mold sectors are arranged adjacent to each other along a longitudinal axis between an in-feed and an out-feed of a mold sector transport mechanism that extends through a heated press. As the mold sectors are continuously advanced along a process direction in steps, rubber material is extruded and placed onto at least one of the mold sectors near the in-feed end such that an elongated strip of rubber material extends over multiple mold sectors along the longitudinal axis. As the strip of rubber material exits the press, the mold sectors are sequentially removed from the rubber material and returned to the in-feed. An extruder outlet positioned near the in-feed can be moved towards or away from the mold sectors to supply rubber material and prevent backflow.

  • Patent number: 4934426
Abstract: A process of bonding two bodies of rubber by vulcanization of a connecting layer of vulcanizable rubber provides essentially a new manner of organizing the drainage of gaseous inclusions imprisoned between the bodies and/or resulting from the subsequent vulcanization reaction and of collecting these gases; the gaseous inclusions travel towards at least one conduit which passes through at least one of the two bodies, or else towards dead-end holes provided in one of the faces intended to be bonded.

  • Patent number: 4476908
Abstract: A tire produced from at least one liquid or paste material which solidifies in a tire mold to form the elastomeric material of the tire, consisting of a crown with two shoulders each connected to a sidewall terminating in a bead containing at least one bead ring, is characterized by the fact that it comprises a number of successive discrete radial hoops which are equally spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the tire, are identical, consist at least in part of a moldable material, are embedded in the elastomeric material of the tire, are continuous from one bead to the other and are provided at each of their ends with a hook within which the bead ring is arranged, the hook being provided with at least one extension which extends up to a wall of the tire, and by the fact that the hoops, which are manufactured flat, are bent or curved by bringing the bead rings towards each other in the axial direction in order to impose upon the hoops a meridian trajectory corresponding substantially to the meridian cu
