    Abstract: A light shielding helmet system includes a helmet shell (2) configured for placement on the head of a user and at least two interchangeable lens holders (8, 70) having different lens-holding configurations. Each lens holder holds one or more lens plates (12) and each can be releasably mounted on the helmet shell (2). The lens holders (8, 70) can be of different styles (e.g., flip up or fixed front) and/or hold lens plates (12) of different sizes.
