Patent number: 10966812Abstract: An embolic protection and filtration device (EFD) that is deployable within the aortic arch of a patient to prevent emboli from entering the coronary arteries. The device includes a collapsible tubular chassis having enlarged opposing end portions and a midsection of smaller radial dimension. A filtration membrane is disposed at least on upstream and midsection portions of the chassis and is configured to filter and shunt large emboli down the descending aorta and away from the coronary arteries. A retrieval device is provided for retrieving the EFD from within the patient. The retrieval device automatically compensates for elongation of the EFD as the EFD is radially contracted such that the EFD is not moved or drug along the aorta as it is collapsed and retracted into a retrieval catheter.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2018Date of Patent: April 6, 2021Assignee: Epic Medical Concepts & Innovations, Inc.Inventor: Joshua Clay Arnone

Patent number: 10709431Abstract: A laparoscopic device includes an elongate shaft, an end effector coupled to a distal end of the elongate shaft, a rounded housing coupled to a proximal end of the elongate shaft and having a center point positioned along the central axis of the elongate shaft, and first and second cables extending from the end effector to the rounded housing respectively along first and second sides of the elongate shaft. The laparoscopic device also includes a handle that is adjustable between an expanded configuration and a compressed configuration. In the expanded configuration, the rounded housing can be rotated to further rotate a single shaft assembly with respect to the central axis of the elongate shaft, and the rounded housing can be pivoted to bend the end effector. In the compressed configuration, the rounded housing is fixed with respect to the handle.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2018Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: Epic Medical Concepts & Innovations, Inc.Inventors: David Andrew Parrott, James Lucas

Publication number: 20190167508Abstract: A device for providing tactile stimulation of a subject via a pulse of compressible fluid, typically for medical diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The device preferably includes a high pressure fluid source and a low pressure fluid source. A pressure valve selectively connects the pressure sources to an outlet conduit. The outlet conduit includes an applicator for directing pulses against the skin of a subject. The pulses may be applied via one applicator or a plurality of applicators, and may be applied in one pattern or several patterns at various application sites. A method of providing tactile stimulation is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2019Publication date: June 6, 2019Applicant: Epic Medical Concepts & Innovations, Inc.Inventors: Aaron J. Dirks, James R. Lucas

Publication number: 20170128640Abstract: This device is used to clear clots and blockages from chest drainage tubes. This invention relates to patient safety after open-heart surgical procedures, wherein postoperative drainage from the surgical site is a critical component of care. Blocked drainage tubes can cause dangerous retained blood complications, most notably, cardiac tamponade, which essentially smothers the heart.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2016Publication date: May 11, 2017Applicant: Epic Medical Concepts & Innovations, Inc.Inventor: James R. Patent number: 6827027Abstract: An extendable counter top (20) for a barbecue stand (10) is composed of a moveable counter top (30) and a stationary counter top (40). The moveable counter top (30) slidably covers the stationary counter top (40) by means of tracks and rails. The counter top (20) is extendable to enlarge its area to support more objects both on the moveable counter top (30) and the stationary counter top (40). Additionally, a positioning device is further attached between the moveable counter top (30) and the stationary counter top (40) to detachably lock the moveable counter top (30) relative to the stationary counter top (40).Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2002Date of Patent: December 7, 2004Assignee: Concept Innovation, Inc.Inventor: Kiosky Chung
