Abstract: A sample collection device for collecting a fluid sample is provided. The device includes a sample collection chamber, for collecting a sample therein, having a first end and a second end and a sample collection conduit, for conveying a sample from a user into the sample collection chamber. The sample collection conduit includes an inlet for receiving a sample and wherein in at least a first position the sample collection conduit extends from within the sample collection chamber out through the first end such that at least the inlet is outside of the sample collection chamber. The device further includes a plunger configured to expel the sample out of the sample collection chamber through the second end of the sample collection chamber.

Abstract: A fluid transfer connector comprises a medical standard connector part comprising a fluid transfer port, a connector part for flexible tubing, the connector part arranged to form a fluid connection with the fluid transfer port such that, in use, a fluid flow can pass between flexible tubing connected to the connector part and the fluid transfer port. The connector further comprises a moveable member arranged to interrupt the fluid flow in the flexible tubing when moved from a first position to a second position. The moveable member is further arranged to release a connection, in use, between the medical standard connector part and a corresponding adaptor part such as a female hub).

Abstract: A fluid transfer device may include a body member and a fluid transfer tip, wherein the fluid transfer tip may include a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. The fluid transfer device also may include a disconnecting member having a front portion and a rear portion and engagement features operating between the disconnecting member and the body member. The engagement features engage with one another to inhibit the front portion of the disconnecting member from moving relative to the fluid transfer tip. The fluid transfer device is arranged such that upon application of a force to the rear portion of the disconnecting member, the disconnecting member deforms so that the engagement features are no longer in engagement with one another. This allows the front portion of the disconnecting member to move relative to the fluid transfer tip and subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.

Abstract: A disconnecting mechanism includes a main body including a fluid transfer tip having a tapered surface to form a friction fit with a corresponding connector. The lever member includes a threaded portion to enable the corresponding connector part to be connected to the fluid transfer tip by a screw fit in addition to the friction fit, and an actuator portion to actuate release of the friction fit. In a first pivotal position, the threaded portion has a first position close to the fluid transfer tip to engage with an outer thread or rim of the corresponding part and thereby form the screw fit in addition to the friction fit. In a second pivotal position, the threaded portion has a second position further away from the fluid transfer tip to disconnect the screw fit and the actuator portion is moved forward to push the connector part and release the friction fit.

Abstract: A fluid transfer device or connection with a fluid transfer tip that has a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. A lever member is pivotally mounted to move relative to the fluid transfer tip. A latch such as a screw thread is mounted on the lever member to engage the hub and provide a positive connection e.g., screw fit in addition to the friction fitting. The lever member may optionally be resiliently biased by a spring. The hub is disconnected from the tip by pivoting the lever member to release the positive connection with the hub and to subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.

The male connector tip is tapered to form a friction fit when inserted in a corresponding female hub. Abstract: A fluid transfer device (2) comprises a prefilled fluid chamber (4) in communication with a needleless fluid transfer tip, a cap (10) covering the fluid transfer tip, and a disconnecting member (14) operable to move the cap (10) so as to at least partially uncover the fluid transfer tip. The disconnecting member (14) comprises a lever member pivotally mounted to the prefilled fluid chamber (4) with a front surface (16) moveable to push the cap (10) away. The cap (10) can therefore be removed in a one-handed operation without requiring manual manipulation of the cap (10).
