Publication number: 20180353166Abstract: A locking suture construct having suture material with a first end and a second end, each attached to a first body in a slidable manner, a constricting member formed in the second end of the suture material, and a bight in the suture material between the first end and the second end. The bight can be pulled through the constricting member around a second body to create a locking loop. The first end and the second end are passed through the locking loop. Pulling the first end increases a perimeter of the locking loop and moves the constricting member toward the second body. When the constricting member reaches the second body, pulling the first end reduces the perimeter of the locking loop and moves/rotates the constricting member around the second body toward the first body to hold the first body in relative position to the second body.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2017Publication date: December 13, 2018Applicant: Conmed CorporationInventor: Grady Breslich

A splice is formed in the first length and a first loop in the suture material is formed between the passing end and the closing end. The closing end extends through the splice to form the first loop. A second loop in the suture material includes a portion of the first length of the suture material which extends through the first loop. A third loop includes the first length of suture material between the splice and the portion of the first length of the suture material extending through the first loop. Publication number: 20180353167Abstract: An anchor construct having an anchor having a length of suture material passing therethrough, the suture material having a loop strand terminating at a first end and a post strand terminating at a second end, a splice loop formed by first end, a sliding construct formed by the first end and the second end, wherein the sliding construct is configured to adjust the relative position of the splice loop and the anchor. The anchor construct can be deployed by passing the first end through a first body and through the splice, creating a locking loop of a first size around the first body, implanting the anchor into a bone hole, pulling the post strand to decrease the perimeter of the positioning loop to a second size smaller than the first size, and pulling the loop strand to decrease the perimeter of the locking loop to a smaller second size.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2018Publication date: December 13, 2018Applicant: Conmed CorporationInventors: Giuseppe Lombardo, Grady Breslich

Publication number: 20180344374Abstract: A flexible screw and method for non-rigid fixation between two bones. The flexible screw includes a head, and a body including a thread portion with a flexible shaft portion extending therebetween. The head has a diameter greater than that of the flexible shaft portion. The thread portion has a plurality of rigid threads while the flexible shaft portion has plurality of openings arranged in a pattern configuration. The openings extend at least partially through the flexible shaft portion. The flexible screw can be used for non-rigid fixation by inserting the thread portion in a first bone while the head is positioned on a distal side of an adjacent second bone. The flexible screw is tightened such that the flexible shaft portion extends in the joint between the first bone and the second bone. The flexible shaft portion provides stability while also adding back motility lost by the reduction in the size of the joint.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2018Publication date: December 6, 2018Applicant: Conmed CorporationInventor: Matthew C. Publication number: 20180325699Abstract: A workstation having a pair of posts on either side of a clamping plate where a donor bone may be placed on sequentially cut in three separate cutting paths. Cutting gates are attached to the posts and used to provide cutting paths that can be precisely oriented with respect to the meniscus of the donor bone part using visual alignment without any manual measurements. The graft is affixed to a machining clamp and shaved to appropriately shape the sides and form a radius on the bottom of the graft. A tibia is then prepared by using a drill guide to form a pilot hole and then to drill out a large hole for the graft. The drilled hole is expanded and shaped using a rod guide and chisel and then a rasp. Patent number: 9918715Abstract: A long articulating steerable clip applier affixed to a user-operated handle. A surgical jaw assembly is attached to the other end of the clip applier. The clip applier is composed of articulating phalanges that are connected end to end by pivoting links and capable of angulations relative to one another when subjected to a tensile force. Each phalange has opposing s-shaped exterior grooves that form two continuous spiral-shaped channels for holding tension wires once the phalanges are assembled. Multiple tension wires are attached to opposite ends of adjacent phalanges. When each wire is pulled, this tensile force causes the phalanges to pivot at equivalent angles with each other. As each individual phalange pivots by an equivalent angle, the sum of these angles causes the free end of the clip applier to pivot by a large angle or a cascading actuation effect.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2014Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Conmed CorporationInventor: Pavel Menn
