  • Patent number: 9659386
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a camera assembly, in which a first camera and a second camera capture images (36, 42). Respective fields of view of the two cameras overlap at least in a partial region (24). At least in an image (36) captured by the first camera, at least one contamination region (38) including a plurality of pixels is detected within the partial region (24). Thereupon, data values specifying the respective transparency of the pixels in the at least one contamination region (38) are varied with respect to respective reference values of the transparency, wherein these reference values increase in the partial region (24) towards an edge (28) of the respective image upon superimposition of the images. Furthermore, the invention relates to a camera assembly.

  • Patent number: 9393917
Abstract: A method for operating a driver assistance system of a motor vehicle is provided. A first image sequence of a first rear environmental region of the motor vehicle is provided by a first camera system of an electronic rearview mirror and the first image sequence is displayed on a display device of the electronic rearview mirror disposed in an interior of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, a second image sequence of a second environmental region of the motor vehicle, which overlaps with the first environmental region at least in certain areas, is provided by a second camera system of an environmental capturing device. The electronic rearview mirror is then checked for presence of a malfunction by a computing device of the driver assistance system and the second image sequence is displayed on the display device of the electronic rearview mirror when the malfunction is present.

  • Patent number: 9340156
Abstract: A method for detecting an object in an environmental region of a motor vehicle by a camera system of the motor vehicle is disclosed. A first image of the environmental region is provided by a camera of the camera system with illumination of the environmental region using a light source of the motor vehicle such that a shadow of the object caused by the illumination is depicted in the first image. A second image of the environmental region is also provided by the camera in an inactive state of the light source, in which the illumination is omitted. Then, a subtraction image is generated by subtracting one of the images from the other image by an image processing device of the camera system. Then, an edge image is generated from the subtraction image, and the object is detected based on edges of the edge image by the image processing device.
