Patents Assigned to Consolidated Medical Equipment
  • Patent number: 4269189
Abstract: A disposable skin conducting electrode assembly and electrode is disclosed for use on a patient wherein the electrode assembly comprises a gel pad, an electrode and an adhesive pad. The electrode is a thin conductive plate containing an interior area or aperture. In one particular embodiment, the electrode is doughnut shaped. The gel pad covers one side of the conductive plate and is similarly shaped. The adhesive pad covers the other side of the electrode and extends over the aperture and beyond the periphery of the gel pad. The adhesive provides good contact around the external edges of the gel pad, and due to the aperture, the adhesive pad provides good adhesive contact to the patient around internal edges of the gel pad as well. An external conductor is connectable to a conductive, single piece solid metal stud or post attached to the electrode and extending through an orifice in the adhesive pad.

  • Patent number: 4265253
Abstract: A disposable skin conducting electrode assembly and electrode is disclosed for use on a patient wherein the electrode assembly comprises a gel pad, an electrode and an adhesive pad. The electrode is a thin conductive wire having a non-linear configuration such that the electrode extends across a width of skin substantially greater than the width of the wire. In one particular embodiment, the wire is in a saw-toothed configuration. The gel pad covers one side of the conductive wire, and the adhesive pad covers not only the other side of the conductive wire but the gel pad as well. The adhesive pad is used to hold the electrode assembly to the skin of the patient. A lead wire, connected at one end to the conductive wire, is provided to connect the electrode assembly to a suitable source of electric impulses. The electrode assembly may be used where any electrode is usable but has particular application for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation or as a post-operative electrode.

  • Patent number: 4165141
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided for an electrode having a headed stud thereon in which a slot is provided between electrical contact plates mounted on the connector. The headed stud of the electrode fits within this slot and a slidable locking bar having a cam surface thereon is moved to a locking position wherein the headed stud is forced into a narrowed portion of the slot and is locked in contact with the electrical contact means.

  • Patent number: 4117846
Abstract: A disposable skin conducting electrode assembly and electrode therefor for use on a patient wherein the electrode assembly comprises an electrolyte pad, an electrode and an adhesive pad. In one embodiment of the invention the electrode is a thin stainless steel plate having a periphery shaped to provide a plurality of recesses in the contour thereof and the adhesive pad is a solid sheet having greater overall length and width dimensions than the electrode. Thus the adhesive pad extends over the recesses in the periphery of the electrode and provides greater adhesive area for adhering the electrode assembly to the skin of the patient. An external conductor is connectable to a conductive, single piece, solid metal stud or post attached to the electrode extending through an orifice in the adhesive pad. A pair of washers are mounted on the stud on either side of the adhesive pad for mechanically retaining the stud and electrode in position.

  • Patent number: 4029086
Abstract: An electrode arrangement is presented which provides for a reliable electrical contact with the skin of a person or animal. The electrode arrangement comprises, in combination, a central post with a base flange, an adhesive pad having a central aperture for receiving the central post, a gel member and a resilient o-ring shaped member. An alternate embodiment comprises a central post and base flange, an adhesive pad having a central aperture for receiving the central post, and a shield washer, with a central aperture for receiving the central post, mounted above the adhesive pad. Both embodiments minimize the effect of physical forces placed on the electrical contact.
