Abstract: A heat pump and method are provided whereby an interior heat pump having dual, vertically positioned condensor-evaporator compartments allows outside air to pass into an inlet passageway beneath the heat pump which communicates with the lower of said compartments. The outside air passes upwardly through an opening in the bottom of said lower compartment where it then passes through a condensor-evaporator and is directed by a centrifugal fan out another opening in the floor of the lower compartment. The inlet and outlet outside air passageways are slanted whereby any moisture collected therein will be drained away through a foundation wall.
Abstract: A self-contained indoor air conditioning system includes a removable chassis comprising an indoor air condensor/evaporator, an outdoor air condensor/evaporator and a compressor. The chassis can be easily removed from the housing enclosure and taken to a nearby repair station for a major overhaul. Flanges and bulkheads are provided on the chassis and interiorly of the housing to separate air flow to the indoor and outdoor blower fans which are positioned in the upper portion of the housing proximate the electric controls.

Abstract: An apparatus for safely purifying hydrogen gas, comprising: a hydrogen gas diffusion cell for filtering hydrogen gas, the cell having an input for hydrogen gas to be purified, an output for ultrapurified hydrogen gas and an output for waste gas, including hydrogen gas and concentrated corrosive agents; an electrical power supply for heating the diffusion cell to an elevated operating temperature; an electrical circuit for detecting hydrogen gas, disposed adjacent the diffusion cell and the input and outputs, and for generating a command signal when hydrogen is detected; an electrically activatable valve disposed in and controlling the hydrogen gas input, operable in response to the command signal; and, an electrical switch for disabling the electrical power supply in response to the command signal, whereby the apparatus will be rendered completely inoperative before explosive levels of hydrogen gas can accumulate.
