Abstract: The invention concerns a homoserine transsuccinylase having at least one mutation compared to a wild-type homoserine transsuccinylase and reduced sensitivity towards a L-methionine or SAM, compared to the wild-type enzyme. The latter comprises an amino acid sequence including a partial AspGlyXaaXaaXaaThrGlyAlaPro sequence between position 90 and position 115 and a partial TyrGlnXaaThrPro sequence between position 285 and position 310, position 1 of the amino acid sequence corresponding to the initial methionine. The invention is characterized in that the mutation is a substitution of the aspartate in the partial AspGlyXaaXaaXaaThrGlyAlaPro sequence, or a substitution of the tyrosine in the partial TyrGlnXaaThrPro sequence.

Abstract: Phosphone ester modified organosilicon compounds are prepared by reacting phosphonic ester-functionalized alkoxysilane with a silanol-functional organosilicon compound. The product is produced in high yield and purity.
Abstract: The invention relates to a homoserine transsuccinylase, which exhibits reduced sensitivity towards L-methionine or SAM in comparison with a homoserine transsuccinylase wild-type enzyme, whereby the latter comprises an amino acid sequence containing a TyrGlnXaaThrPro sub-sequence, the Thr of said sub-sequence lying between positions 285 and 310 of the amino acid sequence and position 1 being filled by the starter methionine. The inventive homoserine transsuccinylase is characterized in that in comparison with the wild-type enzyme at least 2 amino acids are modified, said modification taking place in the Thr of the sub-sequence or in the C-terminal.

Abstract: A process for preparing isocyanoatoorganosilanes by thermolysis of carbamatoorganosilanes in the presence of microwave radiation, optionally employing homogeneous or heterogeneous catalysis, provides isocyanatoorganosilane product in higher yield than prior art thermolyses, and with fewer byproducts. A continuous process is thus possible.

Abstract: One-component, moisture curing compositions which exhibit rapid curing, even with exceptionally low levels of catalyst or with no catalyst at all, can be formulated from alkoxysilane-terminated polymers having alkoxysilane groups bonded to an electronegative, free electron-pair-containing heteroatom via a methylene linking group. Polymer blends containing the alkoxysilane-terminated polymers exhibit rapid cure, even at room temperature, and allow the use of nitrogen containing components such as adhesion promoters.
Abstract: Chiral secondary alcohols may be produced enzymatically in high space-time yields while minimizing enzyme use, by reducing a keto compound in an aqueous reaction medium containing water, reducing agent, alcohol dehydrogenase and coenzyme, extracting the secondary alcohol formed by means of a further phase containing a water-immiscible organic solvent, and removing the phase used for extraction and reusing the aqueous reaction medium in step a).
Abstract: A process for preparing ?-functionalized thiazolidines or oxazolidines, each of which are oxycarbonyl-functionalized in the 4-position, by adding a base to a reaction mixture comprising an oxycarbonyl-functionalized thiazolidine or oxazolidine and an electrophile at a temperature of greater than ?40° C.

Abstract: Reflective liquid crystalline polymer films having increased bandwidth have a single layer of liquid crystalline material with short, long, and medium pitch of the helical molecular structure of the liquid crystalline polymer. The films are easily produced by a readily reproducible and economic process of low complexity.
Abstract: The invention relates to moisture cross-linking compositions containing (A) 100 parts per weight of a silane-terminated polydiorganosiloxane-urea/urethane copolymer of general formula (1), and (B) between 0.1 and 20 parts per weight of silane of general formula (3): ?-(CH2)e—Si(R2)3-f(CH3)f, in which R, X, A, Y, D, B, W, n, a, b, c, d, ?, R2, e and f are defined as per claim 1.
Abstract: Organopolysiloxane/polyurea/polyurethane block copolymer elastomers exhibiting improved physical properties are prepared by reacting diisocyanates with aminoalkyl-functional organopolysiloxanes containing substantially no cyclic siloxanes, prepared by reacting a cyclic silazane with a bis(hydroxy)-organopolysiloxane. Traditional hydroxyl and amino-functional chain extenders may be reacted as well, to produce a wide range of block copolymer elastomers.
Abstract: Non-proteinogenic L-amino acids produced by direct fermentation of a microorganism strain known per se having a deregulated cysteine metabolism in a manner known per se, which comprises adding, during the fermentation, a nucleophilic compound to the fermentation batch in a manner such that this leads to the production of non-proteinogenic L-amino acids by the microorganism strain.

Abstract: Preparation of ?-substituted cysteine derivatives takes place by acidic hydrolysis of thiazolidines, wherein the hydrolysis is effected in the presence of a further phase comprising an organic solvent and a vapor comprising water, acid, organic solvent and aldehyde is removed from the reaction mixture, or a vapor comprising water, acid and aldehyde is removed from the reaction mixture and the vapor or its condensate is subsequently contacted with a phase comprising an organic solvent. The process requires less hydrolysis time and allows for recycle and/or recovery of acid and by product aldehyde.
Abstract: Particles of metal and non-metal oxides may be readily functionalized with organosilyl groups, even in the absence of catalysts, when methylene-spaced alkoxysilanes are used for functionalizing. When an excess of alkoxy groups relative to metal-OH groups are present, the resulting functionalized particles exhibit high reactivity, particularly upon exposure to moisture. Functionalization is particularly useful with particles of organopolysiloxane resins.
