Abstract: A method for fermentative production of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), includes culturing a bacterial strain obtainable from a starting strain and having increased SAM-synthetase activity, compared to the starting strain, in a culture medium, the bacterial strain secreting SAM into the culture medium and the SAM being removed from the culture medium.
Abstract: An expression system for producing a protein in a filamentous fungus, consisting of a) a host organism selected from the species Trametes and Polyporus and b) a DNS vector containing a selection marker gene. This selection marker gene code is a protein which allows the selection of positive transformants after the transformation of the host organism and which is selected from the group of: antibiotics-resistant genes coding for proteins which eliminate the growth-inhibitory effect of antibiotics against which the host organism is not resistant. Genes coding proteins which are capable of a color-causing reaction; and genes complementing a genetic defect of the host organism (auxotrophy), the expression of the selection marker gene is controlled by at least one active genetic regulation element in the host organism, and c) a DNS vector containing a gene which codes the protein to be produced.

Abstract: An optically anisotropic film obtained from a mixture comprising a polymer and a liquid crystal compound, wherein retardation of the optically anisotropic film at 80° C., 60° C. or 0° C. measured from a normal direction is 20-97%, 20-99% or 101-150%, respectively, of retardation at 30° C., and an absolute value of a deviation in retardation by said liquid crystal compound is not greater than 6% when the optically anisotropic film is held at 30% for 200 hours, has the temperature dependence in accordance with the temperature dependence of retardation of a liquid crystal display cell, and a small variation of retardation by the liquid crystal compound with the lapse of time, and thus is suitable for use in a liquid crystal display apparatus.

Abstract: Liquid-crystalline polyorganosiloxanes containing methacryloxy and/or acryloxy groups are prepared by reaction of polyorganosiloxanes containing hydrogen atoms bonded directly to silicon atoms with alkenes and/or alkynes containing mesogenic groups in two steps, wherein the polyorganosiloxanes mentioned are reacted in a first step with alkene and/or alkyne containing mesogenic groups and are reacted in a second step with an alkene and/or alkyne containing at least one methacryloxy and/or acryloxy group and mesogenic groups.
