  • Publication number: 20090242505
Abstract: A rectangular plastic container formed by blow molding includes an upper portion, an upper label bumper, a base portion having a heel that curves inward to meet a standing edge at a bottom of the container, and a lower label bumper. The container further includes a body portion disposed between the upper portion and the base portion. The body portion includes front, back, and side label panel areas meeting at rounded corner regions of the body portion. The label panels each having a plurality of horizontal ribs, each horizontal rib having four portions separated by gaps, such that each of the four portions extends into the corner regions of the body portion. The front and the back label panel areas are inset from the upper bumper by a distance which is greater than an inset distance of the side label panel areas with respect to the upper bumper.

  • Patent number: 7469796
Abstract: A plastic container (10) that exhibits an optimal ratio of hoop strength to top load strength includes a finish portion (12) and generally cylindrical main body portion (14). The main body portion includes a sidewall (16) that has a first plurality of generally vertical ribs (18, 20, 21, 24) defined therein. In addition, a second plurality of generally horizontal wave (26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36) shaped ribs is defined in the sidewall. The generally horizontal wave shaped ribs intersect with the generally vertical ribs, thereby imparting enhanced strength characteristics to the container (10).

  • Patent number: 7458478
Abstract: A hot fillable container includes a bottom and a sidewall connected with the bottom so as to define an internal space. The sidewall is further shaped so as to define in transverse cross-section a first convex sidewall label area having a first convexly curved outer surface having a first curvature and a second convex sidewall area having a second convexly curved outer surface having a second curvature. The label area is of the type that has no horizontal reinforcing ribs. The sidewall is constructed and arranged so that deformation of the sidewall in response to a partial vacuum condition within the internal space after a hot fill process will result in a decrease of the first curvature and an increase of the second curvature. This deformation is effected without any denting of the sidewall.

  • Patent number: 7416090
Abstract: An improved hot fillable container includes a bottom and a sidewall connected with the bottom so as to define an internal space. The sidewall is shaped so as to define in transverse cross-section in at least one location a substantially circular outer circumference. The sidewall further includes first and second convex label panel portions each having a convexly curved outer surface. Advantageously, the sidewall is constructed and arranged so that deformation of the sidewall in response to a partial vacuum condition within the internal space will occur primarily in the convex label panel portions. The structure permits the hot fillable container to be constructed without the use of concave vacuum panel portions.

  • Patent number: 7416089
Abstract: An improved hot-fill type container that has particular utility for use with the nitrogen dosing hot-fill process includes a finish portion, a main body portion and a base portion having a pushup area and a chime that is situated about the pushup area for supporting the container when a horizontal surface. The container advantageously includes a reinforced heel portion in the area between the main body portion and the chime for protecting the container against deformation that could otherwise be caused by the positive pressurization of the nitrogen dosing process.
