Patent number: 8176990Abstract: A device for removing obstructions from a work site. The device is attachable to the front of a work machine. The device comprises a frame, a flange, a rotatable cutting member supported on the flange, and a motor that rotates the cutting member. The flange is non-rotatable, but is movable along at least one length relative to the frame. The motor may be supported on the flange. The device further comprises a plurality of removably attachable blocking members for decreasing the range of travel of debris generated during operation of the cutting member. The rotatable cutting member is movable about three axes relative to the flange such that changes in conditions or temperatures do not cause the cutting member to break.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2008Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventors: Larry D. Beller, Ronald L. Major

Patent number: 7472869Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for compensating for small variations in balance and alignment when supporting and rotating a massive cylindrical drum. The apparatus comprises a self-aligning flange having projections spaced 90° apart about the circumference, or rim, of the flange. The projections are inserted into sliding relationship with elongate slots within a fixed supporting frame so that the plane of the self-aligning flange is allowed to dynamically adjust to small oscillations or movements of the centerline of the rotating drum as it rotates.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2006Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventor: Larry D. Beller

Patent number: 6988866Abstract: A fork lift attachment for multi-purpose buckets that is easily installed and secured. The mechanism fits under the bucket and is supported by a slot on the top side of the tine and a latch at the heel of the tine. The latch is tightened causing the fork lift attachment to be cinched onto the bucket. A security chain readily and visibly secures the latch so as to prevent the fork lift attachments from being dislodged even if the hydraulics open the bucket.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2003Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth R. Friedland, Charles Leroy Welch, Donna Kelleen Darnell

Patent number: 6022184Abstract: A fork lift attachment includes upper and lower mounting segments for securing the fork lift attachment to a blade of a loader bucket. The upper mounting segment includes a top pad which is attached via a swivel attachment to a vertically movable rod for moving the top pad into flush contact with the top surface of the bucket blade. The lower mounting segment includes a bottom pad attached to a hinge mount for making flush contact with and supporting the bottom surface of the bucket blade. The swivel/hinge capability of the top and bottom pads provide for a secure clamping action which utilizes the entire surface area of the pads.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1998Date of Patent: February 8, 2000Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth R. Patent number: 4910891Abstract: A device for attaching various earth-working tools to a bucket of excavating equipment, such as a front-end loader, backhoe, or excavator. A frame has two spaced parallel plates, each having a wedge-shaped notch on one side. A stabilizing bar, adjacent to the open end of the notches, connects the plates. The tool, such as an asphalt roller or cutter, is attached to the bottom of the frame between the plates. At the top of the frame, a clamping mechanism, having a pivoting arm, is mounted between the plates. To use the device, the excavator bucket is inserted into the wedge-shaped notch, with the device holding the bucket in place against the edges of the wedge-shaped notch, the stabilizing bar, and the pivoting arm of the clamping mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1988Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventors: James W. Patent number: 4813163Abstract: An alignment fitting for implements such as buckets and hammers, which are to be removably attached to a bachhoe. The invention includes a pair of cylindrical bosses, which are affixed to opposing apertures in mounting flanges on the implement. A cylindrical bushing is rotatable inside each boss. A pin is placed through an eccentric bore in each bushing, and through the backhoe dipperstick. The eccentricity of the bushings allows the bushings to compensate for misalignment that may occur in the implement or the backhoe dipperstick. The invention may also be used with a hitch to provide greater tolerances when nonstandard size implements are attached.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1988Date of Patent: March 21, 1989Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventors: Johnston R. Livingston, Paul T. St. Louis

Patent number: 4554635Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for creating, laying out and cutting patterns on laminar sheet material having particular application to air handling ducting which permits the fully automated creation of the patterns required to subsequently construct three-dimensional products such as fittings, which have heretofore only been designed by skilled technicians. Information representative of the geometric configurations of a group of basic pattern types, including mathematical relationships, is stored in digital form in a memory. From the basic pattern types, substantially all variations of the three-dimensional product can be developed. An operator specifies the type of fitting required and inputs selected actual basic dimensions of the product, the basic dimensions being those dimensions necessary to specify the overall dimensions of the product.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1983Date of Patent: November 19, 1985Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventor: Richard W. Patent number: 4551810Abstract: A method and apparatus for partially automatically designing a conduit network and automatically producing patterns for cutting out the sides of conduit sections from laminar material. The CAD-CAM system eliminates the detailing of fittings and other components of a heating and ventilating system, pattern type and dimensional data being fed directly, i.e., without human intervention, from a memory in a CAD system to a CAM pattern generating and fabricating system. The patterns for the closed sides of the conduit network are developed from mathematical relationships specifying the geometry of basic pattern types.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1983Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventor: Richard W. Levine

Patent number: 4224003Abstract: A hydraulically operated vibratory soil compactor adapted for use with a loading boom such as a backhoe. Improved construction includes a rectangular structural steel tube welded to a vibrating base plate for providing: structural reinforcement; a sealed housing for an eccentric weight vibrator; and, a supporting surface for shear type springs or shock mounts. A hydraulic drive motor is also mounted on the outside of the central tube member. Improved construction further includes an I-beam section welded between a pair of inverted U-shaped plates to form a tunnel type mounting frame having four arms for connection to the shock mounts supported on the tube member.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1978Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventor: Paul T. St. Louis

Patent number: 4018135Abstract: A hydraulic impact device has a hammer member carrying a piston which is reciprocally disposed in a cylinder chamber to form an expansible chamber. When the expansible chamber is pressurized, the hammer is retracted against an air spring or other energy storage device by the high pressure. A sleeve valve is reciprocally disposed in the cylinder chamber between the piston and the energy storage device and is held against the piston by an imbalanced fluid pressure as the hammer is retracted against the spring. When the piston and sleeve valve have been retracted to a predetermined position, high pressure fluid is ported between the sleeve valve and piston to hydraulically separate the two members.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1973Date of Patent: April 19, 1977Assignee: Construction Technology, Inc.Inventors: Raymond E.
