Patent number: 8109540Abstract: A pipe joint for plastic pipe includes a bell member and a spigot member. The bell member includes a tubular plastic body wall having a radially outer side including a pair of spaced apart circumferentially extending ribs and a metal reinforcement ring located between the ribs. The tubular plastic body wall includes a circumferential plastic ring portion extending between the ribs and radially exterior of the metal reinforcement ring to encase the metal reinforcement ring within the tubular plastic body wall. A radial gap may be provided between the plastic ring portion and the metal reinforcement ring to accommodate differing thermal shrinkage rates as between the two different materials. The spigot member, which is insertable into the bell member, includes a tubular plastic body wall having an internal surface and an external surface and a longitudinal axis and metal reinforcement encased within the tubular plastic body wall.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2009Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Assignee: Contech Construction Products Inc.Inventors: William Zepp, James C. Publication number: 20110056890Abstract: A stormwater filter cartridge includes a housing having a water inlet and a filtered water outlet, and a filter medium disposed along a flow path between the water inlet and the filtered water outlet. A drainage space forms at least part of the flow path and is disposed between a downstream side of the filter medium and the filtered water outlet. A solid wall float tube disposed in the drainage space has an open lower end and open upper end, the solid wall float tube movable between a lowered position that inhibits or substantially restricts filtered water at the bottom of the drainage space from passing to the filtered water outlet and a raised position that permits free flow of filtered water to the filtered water outlet. A fluid reservoir is in fluid communication with the drainage space and is disposed within the housing and above the filter medium for collecting filtered water as water level in the housing rises while the solid wall float tube is in the lowered position.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2010Publication date: March 10, 2011Applicant: CONTECH CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS INC.Inventor: Daniel P. Patent number: 6994381Abstract: A pipe coupling for joining adjacent ends of first and second pipe sections. The coupling includes a generally cylindrical sleeve having first and second sides. The sleeve is formed as a sheet which is rolled to form the sleeve, wherein the first side of the sleeve defines a substantially continuous annular corrugation to cooperatively engage an end of a first pipe section. The connection of the pipe coupling to the first pipe section end occurs at a factory. The second side of the sleeve is in the form of a bell and defines a non-corrugated surface which is adapted to slidably receive an end of the second pipe section in the field, to thereby interconnect the adjacent ends of pipe. Gaskets may be provided to further reduce infiltration or exfiltration at the coupling.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2000Date of Patent: February 7, 2006Assignee: Contech Construction Products Inc.Inventors: James W. Patent number: 5862581Abstract: A joint for coupling corrugated or ribbed pipe segments, including helical ribbed pipe segments, end-to-end includes a segment of corrugated or ribbed pipe having a plurality of corrugations or ribs spaced axially along the segment's outer surface, a spigot portion at an end of the segment where the corrugations or ribs have been partially removed to form annular bosses, an annular gasket positioned in the spigot portion, and a cylindrical coupling positioned over the spigot portion and gasket. The outer diameter of the coupling is substantially equal to the outer diameter of the corrugations or ribs, and the inner diameter of the coupling is larger than the outer diameter of the bosses such that a gap is formed between the coupling and the spigot portion. The gasket is sized to have a radial thickness slightly larger than the gap such that the gasket forms an air-tight seal between the spigot portion and the coupling when the spigot portion and gasket are inserted into the coupling.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1996Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Assignee: Contech Construction Products, Inc.Inventors: Lyle Eugene Miller, James William Shade

Patent number: 5842727Abstract: A coupling for interconnecting adjacent ends of spiral corrugated pipe includes a generally cylindrically shaped body having generally tubular ends extending axially outwardly from a circumferential stop. One of the tubular ends defines a substantially continuous spiral or thread which is adapted to threadably connect to one of the adjacent ends of spiral corrugated pipe. The other tubular end of the coupling defines a sleeve which is adapted to slidably receive the other of the adjacent ends of spiral corrugated pipe within the sleeve to thereby interconnect the adjacent ends of pipe. Gaskets may be provided within the coupling to further reduce infiltration or exfiltration at the coupling. In an alternative embodiment, the coupling includes a generally cylindrically shaped body having generally tubular ends which each define a substantially continuous spiral or thread. The tubular ends are adapted to be threadably connected to adjacent ends of corrugated spiral pipe to form an interconnection therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1997Date of Patent: December 1, 1998Assignee: Contech Construction Products, Inc.Inventor: James W. Patent number: 5564857Abstract: A slotted drain includes a drain pipe having an elongated narrow slot extending lengthwise along its top surface. A lower grate is rigidly secured to the elongated slot and is formed by a pair of bearing plates connected to one another by a series of spacer plates and connected to the edges of the elongated slot. The lower grate is connected to an upper grate initially in an adjustable manner such that the height and angle of the upper grate may be adjusted with respect to the lower grate and the drain pipe. The height of the upper grate with respect to the drain pipe is dependent upon the intended depth at which the drain pipe will be situated and the angle of the upper grate may, for example, correspond to the drainage slope at which the drain pipe will be set. Once the upper grate has been adjusted to the desired height and angle, the upper grate is rigidly secured to the lower grate.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1995Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Assignee: Contech Construction Products Inc.Inventor: James C. Patent number: 5124109Abstract: Pipe made from thermoplastic polymeric material and including a transversely corrugated outer wall and a smooth inner wall of constant diameter fusion welded to the inner crests of the corrugations of the outer wall is produced by an improved method involving simultaneous extrusion of two tubes, blow molding of the outer wall and fusion of the two walls while the inner wall is supported by an internal shaping and cooling mandrel. Even when the polymeric material is polyvinyl chloride, good fusion welds and lack of brittleness are achieved by the manner in which extrusion is carried out, control of the location at which the fusion welds are established, and the extrusion formulation. The finished pipe is characterized by the fact that, when the fusion welded areas have been cut for inspection, no line of demarcation between the materials of the two walls can be observed.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1990Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Assignee: Contech Construction Products Inc.Inventor: Hubert M. Patent number: 4702502Abstract: A telescopic joint in low pressure corrugated plastic pipe. The joint includes a one-piece elastomeric gasket which functions as a seal between the telescoped pipes. The gasket has a sealing portion adapted to be disposed in a groove in one of the pipes and an anchoring portion adapted to be disposed in an adjacent groove. As the pipes are telescoped together the anchoring portion is trapped in the groove and anchors the sealing portion in place as it is compressed due to an interference fit with the pipes as the joint is made.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1985Date of Patent: October 27, 1987Assignee: Contech Construction Products Inc.Inventors: James W.
