Patents Assigned to Contech Electronics, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6283064
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention there is provided an elongated deterrent strip for mounting to an inanimate object to discourage birds and other pests from resting on that object. The strip comprises a base of electrically non-conductive material. The strip in lateral cross-section has peripheral edges normally lying in a plane and a raised concave center portion. The base has spaced notches along each edge to provide flexibility to the base, whereby the base may be bent both out of the plane and within the plane. The strip further comprises two electrically conductive wires secured to and extending along the upper surface of the base, over the notches. The wires are spaced so that pest's feet will contact both wires when perched on the base. The wires are connectable to an energy source so that the bird or other pest's feet will short the wires when it is perched on the strip, giving a mild shock to the pest to discourage it from continuing its perch on the strip.

  • Patent number: 5878956
Abstract: There is provided a new and useful water sprinkler unit for use as a toy in connection with a water source in which the unit is constructed so as to be within a single housing. The unit comprises a water inlet, a water sprinkler head and a fluid conduit between the water inlet and the water sprinkler head. There is also provided a power supply, motion-detection apparatus with up to 360 degrees visibility and a valve between the water inlet and the water sprinkler head. Circuits are provided to control the valve wherein the circuits open the valve for a pre-determined or variable period of time in response to movement detected by the motion-detection apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4949216
Abstract: A device for discouraging small domestic or wild animals from frequenting areas where they may become a nuisance. The device comprises a mat made of non-conductive material to be spread over the area. A plurality of conductive surfaces are spaced on the upper surface of the mat so that adjacent conductive surfaces are electrically insulated from each other. An electric control is associated with the conductive surfaces and provides electric power thereto so that when an animal walks on the mat its body completes a circuit between live and ground areas on the mat and the animal is thereby provided with an unpleasant electrical sensation.
