Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system, method and computer program product for reducing a mobile phone user's RF signal emissions exposure at the mobile device and increasing the battery life of an active mobile device. In accordance with the method, a hardware processor device obtains respective data representing: a current location of the actively communicating mobile device held by a user, a current orientation angle of the mobile device relative to a reference axis, an identification of a communications cell in which a communications receiver receiving communications from the mobile phone is located, and a location of the communications receiver. The processor computes an angle based on the data representing the current mobile device location, the current orientation angle and the location of the communications receiver, and compares the computed angle against a threshold angle.

Abstract: An RF shielding device for mobile devices includes a conductive grid having horizontal and vertical wire traces in electrical contact with each other; a conductive trace disposed around the perimeter of the conductive grid, the conductive trace being in electrical contact with both ends of each of the horizontal and vertical wire traces; a first insulating film disposed on a top surface of the conductive grid; and a second insulating film disposed on a bottom surface of the conductive grid and the conductive trace. The first insulating film and the second insulating film are of a transparent material. The first and second insulating films are transparent, thus allowing viewing of the display of a mobile device on which the RF shielding device is disposed. The vertical and horizontal wire traces are spaced to form a grid that is opaque to signals in the frequency ranges utilized for mobile communication.

Abstract: An RF shielding device for application to mobile devices includes an RF blocking screen material configured to cover a front face of the mobile device. The screen material includes a grounding material that contacts a body portion of the mobile device for grounding the screen material to the mobile device. The RF shielding device allows proper operation of a touchscreen interface. The RF shielding device may be configured as a self-adhesive material dimensioned to cover a substantial portion of the front face of the mobile device. Alternatively, the RF shielding device may be constructed as a case or protective shell.
