Abstract: A method for estimating the pitch of a motor vehicle by an image-acquiring sensor that is located on board the motor vehicle. The method includes at least a first estimating step consisting in estimating a first pitch angle of the sensor using a first estimating method that integrates a drift-avoidance coefficient aiming to limit drift of the estimation of the first pitch angle, a second estimating step that consists in estimating a second pitch angle of the sensor, using a second estimating method, and a fourth step that consists in refining said first pitch angle by increasing the drift-avoidance coefficient to obtain a refined first pitch angle considered as output angle, if at least one first condition is validated.

Abstract: A brake system for a motor vehicle has electromechanical wheel brakes, a brake operating unit and a central brake control unit. The wheel brakes each have a local brake control unit. The central brake control unit is connected to the brake operating unit and the local brake control units via a first data connection. The brake operating unit is connected to the local brake control unit of at least one wheel brake via a second data connection. In a normal operating mode the central brake control unit determines at least one brake demand from first operating information, received via the first data connection and transmits control signals corresponding to the brake demand to the local brake control units. In a fallback operating mode the local brake control units actuate the respective wheel brakes basis on second operating information, received via the second data connection.

Abstract: A centering mechanism with a brake piston of a disk brake of a motor vehicle, with a spindle extending into a cavity in the brake piston, has dimensions that prevent a force equilibrium of a nut-spindle assembly moved completely out of the vertical position. A force vector of the gravitational force on the nut-spindle assembly extends within a contact surface between a nut and the brake piston. Thus, the brake piston can be easily assembled with the nut-spindle assembly.

Abstract: A method is provided for evaluating wheel sensor signals of a wheel speed sensor where the wheel speed sensor supplies signals that are transmitted using two different protocols. Each protocol comprises a start pulse and a number of data pulses. A first processor unit receives the signals from the sensor and uses the start pulse to determine whether they were transmitted using the first protocol or the second protocol. Depending on the result, the first processor unit signals without a time delay whether a start pulse has been received via an ASO interface of a second processor unit, wherein a variable pulse width is used to indicate whether the start pulse belongs to a data packet that is transmitted with the first protocol or with the second protocol. The second processor provides each incoming ASO signal with a time stamp, so that the speed can be determined.

Abstract: A method for capturing and processing a digital panoramic image is disclosed. The method involves projecting a panorama onto an image sensor with a panoramic objective lens to obtain a raw image. Then, a set of N output images is created based on the raw image, where N is greater than or equal to two and each output image represents a gnomonic projection of the panorama with a given focal length. The output images have a common predetermined resolution, the focal length of the first output image has a predetermined focal length value, and the focal length of each other output image is shorter than that of the previous output image. A digital panoramic camera system comprising a panoramic objective lens, an image sensor and image processing electronics are also disclosed. The image processing electronics are adapted to perform the method according to the above description.
Abstract: A hi-rail device for mounting on a vehicle, comprising a locking slot comprising a first locking end and a second locking end, and a locking pin movable in translation within the locking slot and captured therein. Abstract: A vehicle and ladar sensor assembly system is proposed which makes use of forward mounted long range ladar sensors and short range ladar sensors mounted in auxiliary lamps to identify obstacles and to identify potential collisions with the vehicle. A low cost assembly is developed which can be easily mounted within a body panel cutout of a vehicle, and which connects to the vehicle electrical and computer systems through the vehicle wiring harness. The vehicle has a digital processor which interprets 3D data received from the ladar sensor assembly, and which is in control of the vehicle subsystems for steering, braking, acceleration, and suspension. The digital processor onboard the vehicle makes use of the 3D data and the vehicle control subsystems to avoid collisions and steer a best path.
