  • Patent number: 5950710
Abstract: An overheat regulating system (10) for a passenger compartment (200) of a vehicle comprising at least one thermal conductor (2) containing a phase-change working substance (18) for cooling the overheated passenger compartment (200) automatically without consuming any man-made power when the vehicle is parked outdoor under direct sunshine. The thermal conductor (2) has three sections: an evaporator section (20), which is preferably attached to the inner surface of the roof panel (60) of the passenger compartment (200), a condenser section (22), which is preferably mounted on the top of the roof panel, and an adiabatic section (24), which connects the evaporator section (20) and the condenser section (22) continuously. A shielding slab (70) with open periphery is constructed on the roof panel to shield the condenser section from direct sunshine. The evaporator section (20) absorbs excess heat from the overheated vehicle passenger compartment and the absorbed heat vaporizes the working substance (18).

  • Patent number: 5874785
Abstract: A keyless motor vehicle starting system to replace a conventional ignition lock and ignition key of a motor vehicle. The system comprises a portable wireless transmitter and a receiver/controller board which is installed deeply inside the motor vehicle behind a steering column cover or cluster cover of the motor vehicle. The portable wireless transmitter has a transmitter integrated-circuit chip loaded with a computer program to implement a process to generate a power-code and a starter-code and controls the states of a motor vehicle by sending a radio-frequency-modulated power-code and starter code. The receiver/controller board has a receiver integrated-circuit chip loaded with a computer program to implement a process to detect the power-code and the starter-code and control a plurality of switches for switching among the OFF, ACC, START and RUN states of a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5737938
Abstract: An air-conditioning system comprising a portable air-conditioning unit (100, FIG. 1) for cooling and dehumidifying a zone and a refrigerating unit (10, FIG. 1) which is separated from the portable air-conditioning unit (100, FIG. 1). The portable air-conditioning unit (100, FIG. 1) comprises a housing (20, FIG. 1), an air-moving device (12, FIG. 1) and one or a plurality of coolant carriers (16, FIG. 1) which can be manually transported between the portable air-conditioning unit (100, FIG. 1) and the refrigerating unit (10, FIG. 1). The coolant carriers (16, FIG. 1) also function as cooling coils of a surface type heat-exchanger for the portable air-conditioning unit (100, FIG. 1). The coolant carriers (16, FIG. 1) are closed and sealed so that the contained coolant can be reused among cooling and refrigerating cycles. The coolant can be water or a solution of water and inorganic salt to make use of the combination of sensible heat, heat of fusion and heat of solution for cooling.

  • Patent number: 5689142
Abstract: A keyless motor vehicle starting system to replace a conventional ignition lock and ignition key of a motor vehicle. The system consists of a portable wireless transmitter and a receiver/controller board which is installed deeply inside the motor vehicle behind a steering column cover or cluster cover of the motor vehicle. The portable wireless transmitter has a power-code generator and a starter-code generator and controls a vehicle battery power supply and ON-OFF states of a motor vehicle starter by sending a radio-frequency-modulated power-code and starter code. A novel design is disclosed to avoid having to detect engine-running conditions and avoid using a feed-back-control circuit to de-energize the motor starter.
