  • Patent number: 7837181
Abstract: An air spring (2) essentially includes two end elements (4, 6) and an electrically conductive rolling-lobe flexible member which is pressure-tightly arranged therebetween and is made of a flexible elastomeric electroconductive material (14). A reinforcement (16) formed by two cord fiber plies (16a, 16b), which are made of fibers (18), are vulcanized into the flexible member. In order to determine the height (h) of the spring, preferably, the two cord fabric plies (16a, 16b) are provided with a number of highly conductive fibers (18a) which are arranged at the beginning and the end of each ply in a parallel direction to each other, thereby forming two conductive strips (24a, 24b). The conductive strips (24a, 24b) are disposed oppositely to each other and are electrically connected at the end of the rolling-lobe flexible member (8) in such a way that a conductive loop (24) is formed and each strip is used as an element in a branch for an alternating-current measuring bridge (28).

  • Patent number: 7794852
Abstract: A flanged plate (1) for a rolling-lobe air spring has on its rounded portion an annular, closed, concave, rounded holding recess (13) which has a circular arcuate shape. The plate is provided with the recess before surface treatment. A correspondingly shaped holding bead (16) in the upper flanging tool (3) engages in this holding recess and form-tightly holds the tool (3) and the flanged plate (1). In this way, sharp-edged holding grooves, which can damage the surface of the flanged plate, are unnecessary. The flanging method, the flanging device, the flanged plate and the rolling-lobe air spring provided with a flanged plate of the above type are described.

  • Patent number: 7361007
Abstract: Tubular-shaped flexible members for air springs are made of rubber or rubber-like elastomers and are reinforced by reinforcement layers. In order that the air spring flexible member can roll telescopically off a roll-off piston, the tubular-shaped flexible member sections must be brought into a slightly conical or bottle-like configuration and then vulcanized in this form. A method forms and vulcanizes an air spring flexible member blank and utilizes an apparatus which includes a mold defining a bellied inner wall defining a common hollow space for receiving the air spring flexible member blank therein. A pressure bellows unit includes a pressure bellows extending axially in the common hollow space as well as first and second end pieces joined to the pressure bellows at corresponding longitudinal ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 7266872
Abstract: An apparatus and method for separation of tubes produced continuously on a row of mandrels, continuously coupled to one another, by the mandrels being advanced in a conveying direction (X) and by material layers being applied to the mandrels. A material difference exists from the mandrel material at a connection point of successive mandrels. A measuring device detects the connection point of the successive mandrels, and a separating device, arranged downstream of the measuring device in the conveying direction (X), provides for the separation of the tubes. The separating device is controlled by the measuring device in order to align the separating device with the connection point. The separating device has a cutting head rotatable about the connection point, and advances in the conveying direction (X) synchronously with the mandrels during the separating operation.

  • Patent number: 7226044
Abstract: An air spring includes a flexible member, a roll-off piston and a cover plate. The piston includes a slot at its upper end for receiving the end of the flexible member applied with the aid of a clamp ring. The piston includes a flange for deflecting the flexible member. The outer diameter of the flange corresponds approximately to the outer diameter of the clamp ring and the roll-off diameter of the piston. The flexible member is tapered at its lower region to avoid an uncontrollable collapse in the pressureless state of the air spring or a sharp snap-in of the flexible member exiting from the attachment. The flexible member exits at approximately 90° in the radial direction from the attachment. The peripheral slot and the flange are so configured that, in the pressureless state, a clear diameter jump is present between clamping diameter and diameter of the remainder of the flexible member.

  • Patent number: 6986862
Abstract: A vulcanization mold (2) includes several segments (8a, 8b; 10a, 10b; 12a, 12b; 14a, 14b) which define two end profiles (8, 10) and two inner profile shells (12, 14) having concave surfaces. With synchronous movement sequences, which take place via linear controls from both ends, the segments (8a, 8b; 10a, 10b; 12a, 12b; 14a, 14b) are moved together under simultaneous shaping pressure. The outer profile shells (8, 10) pass through twice the distance as the inner profile shells (12, 14). The forming of the work blank (20) is completed via the shaping pressure when the mold (2) has reached the closed position. Preferably the upper profile half shells (8a, 10a, 12a, 14a) and the lower profile segments (8b, 10b, 12b, 14b) are operatively connected to each other via toothed racks (40a, 46a, 48a, 54a; 40b, 46b, 48b, 54b) and gear wheels (42a, 44a, 50a, 52a; 42b, 44b, 50b, 52b) including additional sets of teeth (42a?, 50a?; 42b?, 50b?).

Abstract: The invention is directed to a flexible pipe connecting unit which includes a part made of elastic workable material. The pipe connecting unit includes a wave-shaped or hose-shaped bellows (4) made of elastomeric material. The bellows (4) has respective projecting flange collars (14; 14 a, 14b) at its respective ends. The pipe connecting unit (2) coacts directly with weld-on flanges as counter flanges (20; 20a, 20b) without additional seals or corresponding joining locations. For this purpose, the end sealing faces of the flange collars (14; 14a, 14b) are partitioned in the radial direction by a peripherally extending slot (28; 28a, 28b). In this way, at least two coaxial concentric annularly-shaped sealing surfaces (14-I, 14-II) are formed.
