Abstract: Apparatus for adjusting the relative position of a carriage assembly to a platen on a printer frame comprising first and second parallel supports mounted to a printer frame in spaced apart relationship parallel to said platen, a pulley support assembly mounted on one of the supports for movement parallel to said one support, a bearing assembly slidably mounted on the other of the supports, a carriage assembly detachably mounted to said pulley support assembly and slidably attached to the bearing assembly to allow movement of the carriage assembly towards or away from the bearing assembly while maintaining contact with the bearing, and means for adjusting the one support in a horizontal plane towards or away from the platen whereby the carriage assembly is moved toward or away from the platen.

Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the angular velocity of a motor shaft comprising a memory for storing digital data equivalent to a desired angular velocity curve for the motor shaft, means for determining the actual angular velocity of the shaft, means coupled to the memory and the means for determining the actual angular velocity of the shaft for comparing the actual angular velocity of the shaft with the desired angular velocity according to said curve and a computer coupled to the comparing means and the motor for adjusting the current to the motor whereby the velocity thereof is adjusted according to the comparison to cause said motor to have a velocity corresponding to said curve.

Abstract: A detachable carriage assembly for a printer having a frame for supporting a cylindrical platen and a drive motor for moving said carriage assembly and comprising first and second parallel supports mounted in spaced apart relationship on the frame of the printer parallel to the platen, a pulley support assembly movably mounted on one of the supports and connected to the drive motor for movement parallel to the one support, a bearing assembly slidably mounted on the other of the supports and a carriage assembly detachably mounted to the pulley support assembly and the bearing assembly for moving parallel to the platen as the pulley support assembly moves.
