Patent number: 11906076Abstract: A valve body, for use in a valve housing having an inlet and outlet, includes a spherical outer surface. A flow opening extends diametrically from one side of the outer surface to an opposing side. A plurality of flow control passageways extend from the outer surface into the valve body. The valve body is moveable relative to the valve housing between a closed position, a restricted flow position, and a free flow position. In the closed position, the flow opening and all of the plurality of flow control passageways are out of alignment with the inlet and outlet. In the restricted flow position, at least one flow control passageway is moved into fluid communication with the inlet and outlet to facilitate fluid communication therebetween. In the free flow position, the flow opening is moved into fluid communication with the inlet and outlet to facilitate fluid communication therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2022Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: CONTROL COMPONENTS, INC.Inventors: Stephen Freitas, Ruben Mendoza, Daniel A. Patent number: 11492872Abstract: A flow control device includes a stack of annular discs positioned in a flow path. Each disc includes fluid passageways extending between inner and outer perimeters of the disc, with each passageway defining a flow axis extending out of the disc and radially offset from a central axis of the discs. A plug is moveable relative to the discs between closed and open positions. In the closed position, a cylindrical section of the plug is positioned to block fluid flow through the annular discs. In the open position, the annular discs and a tapered section of the plug collectively define an annular vortex chamber. The fluid passageways in the annular discs and the tapered section of the plug collectively impart a rotational flow when the plug is in the open position and as fluid exits the annular discs.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2019Date of Patent: November 8, 2022Assignee: CONTROL COMPONENTS, INC.Inventor: Fabio Giove

Patent number: 11060635Abstract: A valve for regulating the flow of a fluid includes a housing defining a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A flow control element is disposed within the housing and is configured to dissipate energy in a fluid flowing therethrough from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet. A valve seat is positioned within the housing and includes a plurality of vortex generators which induce vortices in the fluid as the fluid flows through the valve seat. A plug is disposed within the housing and is moveable relative thereto between closed and open positions. The plug moves away from the valve seat as the plug moves from the closed position toward the open position such that fluid flow through the flow control element and the valve seat increases as the plug is moved from the closed position toward the open position.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2019Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: CONTROL COMPONENTS, INC.Inventors: Sekhar Samy, Uzair Ahmed

Patent number: 9875436Abstract: Electronic systems, such as printing systems, often use components that have integral memory. The integral memory can be used to store information about the component. In some printing systems this memory includes a portion that stores a value indicative of an amount of a consumable that has been used. Some printing systems do this by using a counter to count the amount of the consumable used and then sending a count command to the memory. The increment count command is processed to increment the value stored within the memory. Disclosed is a method and system for allowing the memory to be updated by a count command without having to increment the value stored. This method allows print cartridges to be used in printing systems that utilize counters without having to increment the counter each time an increment command is received.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2013Date of Patent: January 23, 2018Assignee: Static Control Components, Inc.Inventors: John Willoughby Gravely, Jr., Richard J. Patent number: 9835267Abstract: In accordance with the resent invention, there is provided a fugitive emission detection system for use in conjunction with a valve having a packing deign which includes a primary packing and a secondary packing. The valve further includes a leak port which is disposed within the valve bonnet between the primary and secondary packings. The detection system is operative to maintain the leak port in a normally open state. As a result, any fluid leakage past the primary packing is normally sent to the detection system, as opposed to being applied to and thus pressurizing the secondary packing. In the event of that a prescribed level of fluid leakage beyond the primary packing is detected, the leak port will be closed. The closure of the leak port facilitates the pressurization of the secondary packing.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2012Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignee: Control Components, Inc.Inventors: Fabio Giove, Jalil Abrahimzadeh
