  • Publication number: 20130077991
Abstract: A method of modifying a printer cartridge is disclosed. The modifications increase the versatility of an existing cartridge by enabling the cartridge to be transformed into a universal cartridge. The OEM print cartridges are restricted to use in a few or only one type of printer due to specialized gear side end plates and contact side end plates. End plates contain features or portions, such as bosses, which restrict the number of models of printer that a cartridge may be fit into. The features or portions may be removed by any combination of cutting, modifying, or replacing the gear side end or the contact side end plates. Removing the portions, removes the restrictions imposed by the end plates and allows the print cartridge to been fit into a greater number of printers. The universal cartridge may be used in the printer for which it is originally designed as well as another printer or printer family, thus increasing the versatility of the cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20130064573
Abstract: Disclosed is a universal OPC drum that allows a remanufacturer to stock a minimum number of OPC drum sleeves of the various sizes and then add the appropriate gear for the desired cartridge at the time of cartridge remanufacture. The inventory of gears for the various cartridges is easier to store and permits a remanufacturer to be more flexible. A universal hub may also include an electrical contact on each end to maintain universality without regard to whether the OEM contact is mounted on the drive or non-drive side of the OPC drum.

  • Patent number: 8393355
Abstract: A short stroke flow control device or valve which is adapted to provide velocity control trim in a short stroke. The valve constructed in accordance with the present invention comprises multiple disk stacks or cages which are separated from each other by intervening spacers, and are placed axially in a valve gallery clamped between a seat ring and bonnet of the valve. The fluid passageways in the cages are throttled in a controlled manner by a plug which defines multiple throttling elements or plug lobes, the number of plug lobes defined by the plug preferably being equal to the number of cages included in the valve. The plug lobes of the plug control the flow of fluid through the disk stacks or cages in tandem. All of the throttling elements or plug lobes of the plug, with the possible exception of the plug lobe which contacts the seat ring for closure, is larger in diameter than the remainder of the plug and has at least one kidney bean shaped flow passage extending therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20120313664
Abstract: It is desirable to design and manufacture electronic chips that are resistant to modern reverse engineering techniques. Disclosed is a method and device that allows for the design of chips that are difficult to reverse engineer using modern teardown techniques. The disclosed device uses devices having the same geometry but different voltage levels to create different logic devices. Alternatively, the disclosed uses devices having different geometries and the same operating characteristics. Also disclosed is a method of designing a chip using these devices.

  • Patent number: 8322373
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an axial drag control valve which includes an internal disk stack trim and an internal actuator. The fluid inlet and outlet of the valve are disclosed along a common axis, which is further shared with the actuator of the valve. The actuator moves along this particular axis to control the fluid flow rate, pressure, or temperature of the system. The valve actuator may be powered by air from an external source.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an axial drag control valve which includes an internal disk stack trim and an internal actuator. The fluid inlet and outlet of the valve are disclosed along a common axis, which is further shared with both the plug and the actuator. The plug and actuator move along this particular axis to control the fluid flow rate, pressure, or temperature of the system. The valve actuator may be powered by an operating fluid such as air supplied from an external source. A special, two-part packing with a lantern ring and leak-off port provides protection and safety for the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20120281993
Abstract: Many devices, such as printers, work with one or more removable unit. Often, the removable units have an electronic circuit that used to communicate with the device. It may be desirable to provide a replacement unit in these devices. The replacement unit must include an electronic circuit that is able to communicate with the original device. Disclosed is a method and apparatus where a replacement unit is provided with a new electronic circuit and a used electronic circuit. The new electronic circuit is electrically connected to the used electronic circuit and uses the used electronic circuit to facilitate communication with the host device.

  • Publication number: 20120251175
Abstract: Image recording devices, such as electrophotographic devices, laser printers, copiers, and fax machines, often have a cartridge that utilizes a drive gear to transmit rotational force from the printer to the print cartridge. Also, it is desirable to remanufacture print cartridge both to reduce waste and to save resources. Therefore, it may be desirable to provide a drive gear mechanism that is easily replaced or reused when a print cartridge is remanufactured.

  • Publication number: 20120201560
Abstract: Image recording devices, such as electrophotographic devices, laser printers, copiers, and fax machines, often have a cartridge that utilizes an encoder wheel assembly in addition to or instead of a chip for determining toner load. It may be desirable to alter the encoder wheel or part of the cartridge, either by the printer or the cartridge, to permit a deliberate end of life function situation that requires the replacement of the cartridge, encoder wheel, or encoder wheel assembly components. This thereby controls the remanufacture or replacement of the toner cartridge in a way that is desirable to the manufacturer and prevents unauthorized refilling of the cartridge.
