Patent number: 5122925Abstract: Package for electronic components of a switch, which switch includes sensing components such as thermistor, measuring components, and output-control components, some of which components are relatively highly power-dissipative. A first portion of the switch supports the thermistor in a bushing wherein the head of the thermistor is bonded to the bushing with an electrically insulating material and the head of the thermistor is bonded to a wall of the package with a thermally conductive material, all of which bonding provides shock and vibration protection for the thermistor. Heat is removed from the highly power-dissipative components by a thermally conductive material which conducts heat from the components to a surrounding capsule and by wires which connect the switch to outside circuit components.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1991Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Control Products, Inc.Inventor: Carl A. Patent number: 5097470Abstract: A diagnostic system coupled to a programmable logic controller (PLC) via a serial data link monitors the operation of apparatus under the control of the PLC. Upon detection of a first event-initiating signal, a central processor unit (CPU) in the diagnostic system initiates a timer. The CPU then awaits receipt of a second confirming action signal representing completion of the event initiated by the first signal. The timer times out after a predetermined time interval determined by an operation parameter of the controlled apparatus. If the second confirming action signal is not received before the timer times out, the CPU provides an alarm signal to a video display such as a cathode ray tube (CRT) for displaying an alarm message.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1990Date of Patent: March 17, 1992Assignee: Total Control Products, Inc.Inventor: Nicholas T. Patent number: 5054385Abstract: The improved milk pasteurizing control apparatus is of the type having a flow diversion valve controller in an enclosure with a door, panel or the like required to be sealed on the outside of the enclosure by a regulatory official. Such seal is applied only after the official is satisfied that the controller and its control routine is operating properly. The improvement includes a controller with a computer chip for executing a control routine programmed in the chip. A barrier, overlay or other obstructing technique within the enclosure "blocks" access to the chip program and prevents alteration of the routine. If the exterior seal is broken (to perform certain types of maintenance, for example), the door may be re-sealed by the official without again testing the entire control routine.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1991Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Custom Control Products, Inc.Inventors: Fredrick S. Scheel, Byron Bailey, Richard Lorenzo

Patent number: 4979714Abstract: A hanger clip in the shape of a closed "S" having co-planar, symmetrical loops. The end portions of the hanger clip are bent at their termini at an approximately ninety (90.degree.) degree angle with the vertices of these forming approximately ninety (90.degree.) degree angles and being located adjacent the mid-region of the hanger clip.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1989Date of Patent: December 25, 1990Assignee: Infection Control Products, Inc.Inventors: John P. Russell, Terry Carroll

Patent number: 4907160Abstract: An intersection monitor for remote monitoring of traffic intersection controllers. A central computer is connected through the public telephone system to intersection monitors, one of which is located at each remote intersection. The remote intersection monitor monitors the operation of the intersection controllers and related equipment and, upon detecting the malfuntions of a preselected priority, report such malfunctions by placing calls through the public telephone system to the central computer. The central computer, by placing a call on the telephone system, also may interrogate each of the remote intersection monitors and transfer operating instructions to each monitor. Vehicle and pedestrian detectors also are monitored by each remote intersection monitor and unusual activity or inactivity of such detectors is reported by the remote intersection monitor to the central computer.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1988Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Assignee: Econolite Control Products, Inc.Inventors: Gary Duncan, John Michael, Henry Zwicky

Patent number: 4814765Abstract: The status of the traffic signals is repeatedly monitored. A visual display is presented of the spatial arrangement of the traffic signals in the system. The currently monitored status of the traffic signals is repeatedly represented on the display, spatially coordinated with the display of the respective traffic signals. A plurality of previously monitored statuses is also repeatedly represented on the display, spatially coordinated with the respective traffic signals and a traffic speed progression representation therebetween. The display distinguishes between through green and local green traffic signal status. A comparison is made of the currently monitored status of a traffic signal under consideration with the previously monitored status of the adjacent traffic signals as the latter arrives at the traffic signal under consideration and a separately distinguishable mark represents a discrepancy in the comparison when the previously monitored status is through green.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1987Date of Patent: March 21, 1989Assignee: Econolite Control Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert F. DeRoche, James B. Forbes

Patent number: 4655278Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for simultaneously regulating the temperature of interior air, and ventilating the interior air with air from outside by means of passing said interior air through an interior heat exchanger, simultaneously passing outside air through an outside heat exchanger, extracting a portion of the inside air, and directing it to the outside air for venting outside, simultaneously extracting a portion of the outside air and venting it to the inside air, continuously passing a heat exchange medium into one of the heat exchangers, and transferring the heat exchange medium from one heat exchanger to the other heat exchanger, via an expansion device to procure transfer of heat from one heat exchanger to the other, and passing the heat exchange medium through flow controls, responsive to temperature of the inside air, to selectively direct flow of medium either to one of the heat exchangers or to the other. Also disclosed is a method of regulating temperature by means of the system.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1985Date of Patent: April 7, 1987Assignee: Cambridge Manufacturing Climate Control Products Inc.Inventor: Michael Seguin

Patent number: 4509585Abstract: The supply of energy in response to thermostat demand, to heating and cooling equipment is reduced by intermittent interruption during demand intervals and prolonged intermittently upon cessation of demand in accordance with the duration of such demand intervals pursuant to memory stored heating and cooling sequences of power interruption cycles. Sensors detect the presence and absence of energy demand to time the duration of the demand intervals and control the intermittent interruption in the supply of energy for energy saving purposes.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1984Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Assignee: Energy Control Products, Inc.Inventors: George T. Carney, Gary C. Heath

Patent number: 4510549Abstract: A power supply particularly for use with a traffic control system has a voltage monitoring and control system which continually monitors the line voltage fed to the traffic control system and automatically turns off the power when the voltage drops below a predetermined minimum for a predetermined time period or provides a warning signal should the voltage drop below a higher second predetermined minimum for a predetermined time interval. In the event that the voltage returns to a predetermined acceptable value for a predetermined time period, the power is automatically restored and the warning signal discontinued. The monitoring system includes sensors operative in response to each of the control parameters which operate in conjunction with logical control circuitry to effect the desired controls.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1984Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Assignee: Econolite Control Products, Inc.Inventor: Jack Tedesco
