Abstract: A wireless logger device and a method for improving heat transfer in such a logger device, such that the logger device is configured to measure at least one environmental parameter of a shipment while transporting the shipment from an origin location to a destination location and regularly communicate the measured environmental parameter to an external data processing device. The logger device includes a housing having an opening, at least one sensing device including a temperature sensor for measuring the environmental parameter including temperature within the housing, a communication module comprising a modem for communicating the at least one measured environmental parameter to an external data processing device, and a display screen configured to be placed in the opening of the housing, wherein the display screen is positioned adjacent the modem and is in thermal contact with the modem.

Abstract: A wireless data logger, a method and a system for operating such a data logger, where the data logger is configured to monitor at least one environmental parameter of a shipment at least during transport of the shipment from an origin location to destination location, includes: a power source for powering the wireless data logger, a first sensing device configured for regularly measuring an environmental related parameter, a second sensing device configured for regularly measuring said environmental related parameter, a processor, and a communication module operated by the processor configured to transmit the at least one environmental parameter to an external data processing device. The measurement data from the first and the second sensing devices are processed by a processing device where the processing includes: comparing the measurement data from the first sensing device with the measurement data from the second sensing device.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for monitoring in real-time at least one environmental-related parameter of an asset while transporting the asset. The monitoring is performed using a logger device. The method includes: turning the logger device to an on-power mode; associating, before starting the transport from the beginning location, the logger device to the asset by either placing the logger device into an inner side of the packaging material containing the asset or at an outer side of the packaging material; and measuring an initial angular position of the logger device before starting the transport from the beginning location. The measured angular position is used as a reference angular position for the logger device during transport from the beginning location to the destination location by determining if a change in the angular position of the logger device exceeds the pre-defined angular reference value.
