  • Patent number: 4216422
Abstract: A solid state motor control circuit for controlling the operation of a servo motor comprises a comparator circuit including a differential amplifier having its inputs connected across terminals of the motor and having its output connected to a drive circuit the output of which is connected to a supply terminal of the motor. A reference circuit maintains a reference terminal of the motor at a reference level, and in the absence of a command signal, the differential amplifier and drive circuit maintain the voltage at the motor supply terminal at the reference level. A control switch enabled by the command signal applies a control signal to an input of the differential amplifier, and the differential amplifier responsively enables the drive circuit to raise or lower the potential at the motor supply terminal relative to the reference level, thereby energizing the motor.

  • Patent number: 4207914
Abstract: A control valve includes a single diaphragm as a common wall between an input signal chamber having an input port and an output chamber having a central supply port and an exhaust orifice. The orifice has a seating face parallel to and spaced from the diaphragm. A spring-loaded ball valve unit in the supply passage is aligned with an operator moving with the diaphragm. An increasing input signal first moves the diaphragm to close the exhaust orifice and thereafter moves the operator to open the supply valve. Pressure builds in the output chamber, tending to return the diaphragm and close the supply valve until the output and pilot pressure are balanced. The supply valve then closes. As the exhaust is sealed off, this effectively seals the output chamber. If the signal decreases, the diaphragm uncovers the exhaust orifice until a new balanced state is created.

  • Patent number: 4201967
Abstract: A thermal switch having contacts with one contact being movably mounted on a carrier and with movement of the carrier controlled by a bimetal actuator disc. The actuating movement is transmitted through a striker pin of molded ceramic material which is fastened in fixed relation to the carrier by a layer of adhesive of controllable thickness to establish the effective length of the striker pin.The method of manufacturing the thermal switch embodies holding of the striker pin in fixed predetermined relation to components of the thermal switch. During movement of the parts to this position, a mass of adhesive carried at an end of the striker pin is pressed between the end of the striker pin and the carrier to provide lateral flow thereof until said pressing is discontinued to provide a controlled thickness layer of adhesive which is then set with the parts held in a predetermined relation.

  • Patent number: 4197871
Abstract: A vehicle power steering system which effects steering with a pair of fluid actuated cylinders, one cylinder being operatively connected to each steerable wheel. Each cylinder is normally powered independently of the other cylinder so that both cylinders steer the vehicle. A pressurized fluid flow from a single source is divided for parallel flow along companion fluid flow paths to the individual cylinders. In response to a pre-determined pressure decrease sensed in one of those fluid flow paths a pressure responsive fluid diverter automatically diverts fluid flow from the reduced pressure flow path to the companion path so that all pressurized fluid in the system is then utilized to power one of the cylinders.
