  • Patent number: 10986675
Abstract: A 5G Network Architecture uses virtualization and network slicing. The user equipment (UE) interacts with an underlay network that interacts with virtual network slices. The UE interacts with the underlay network (ULN) to establish a connection to a virtual network slice. Procedures are defined to assign a new slice instance to a UE (UE initiated and ULN initiated); to change a UE Profile (UE initiated and ULN Initiated); and to change a UE's assigned slice instance (ULN Initiated).

  • Patent number: 10977052
Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems allow for bootstrapping of a machine-to-machine device. In an embodiment, a bootstrap erase architecture allows the machine-to-machine server to manage bootstrap erase policies, detect access network specific events, initiate a bootstrap erase based on these policies and events, and allow for machine-to-machine server handover. A device or gateway service capability layer (182) requests its network service capability layer to fetch data that the device or gateway previously stored on a different network service capability layer (196, 197). In an embodiment, when bootstrap erase is performed because the network service capability layer can no longer provide service to the device or gateway, the network service capability layer may recommend other NSCLs to the device or gateway. In another embodiment, a bootstrap erase procedure may be modified so that temporary identifiers may be assigned for a next bootstrapping event.

  • Patent number: 10979985
Abstract: A relay device configured to communicate with a terminal device of the network and with a base station of the network. The relay device comprises transmitter circuitry, receiver circuitry and controller circuitry. The controller circuitry is configured in combination with at least the transmitter circuitry: to select a maximum transmission power to be used by the terminal device for communicating with the relay device, wherein the identified maximum transmission power is based on link information relating to one or both of the link between the relay device and the base station and the link between the relay device and the terminal; to notify the communication device of the selected maximum transmission power for the terminal to select an actual transmission power and to transmit signals to the relay device at a power that is no more than the maximum transmission power.

  • Patent number: 10979879
Abstract: An M2M/IoT resource directory entity may discover and register to other resource directory entities by including criteria attributes in discovery broadcasts and then processing link and metadata that may be included in responses. The resource directory with registrations to other resource directories may service a client request by selecting other resources directories to query based on the request or a query criteria contained therein, and then process link and metadata in responses from the other resource directory entities to aggregate a response to the client. Directory-to-directory registrations may be facilitated via using hierarchical parent-child resource directory identifiers, a peer-to-peer identifier regime, or a combination of the two. Observe notifications may include indicia registrations states, e.g., via change and delete response codes.

  • Patent number: 10972995
Abstract: A service layer entity may register to another service layer entity and proactively request to gain access to the local services hosted by the registrar entity. A registrar entity may accept a registree entity's registration request but only grant access of its partial services to the registree entity. If a registree entity does not need to proactively request the services within its registration request message, the registrar entity decides what services may be needed by the registree entity and grants access of those services to the registree entity.

  • Patent number: 10965588
Abstract: As described herein, various nodes in a 3GPP network, including a user equipment (UE), can be used to insert metadata in uplink traffic so that the network and/or an (S)Gi-LAN can make traffic steering decisions based on the metadata. For example, the UE can insert metadata into its uplink traffic so that the services in the (S)Gi-LAN can be better leveraged. In one embodiment, network nodes are able to insert metadata that relates directly to the UE and that relates to the operating conditions of the network nodes that the UE is using to send uplink data, so that the services in the (S)Gi-LAN can be better leveraged.

  • Patent number: 10956423
Abstract: A modular and distributed architecture for data stream processing and analysis is described to incorporate data stream analytics capabilities, called Data Stream Analytics Service (DSAS) in the IoT/M2M service layer. Each service layer node hosting DSAS can be split into two independent modules, Stream Forwarder and Stream Analytics Engine. Stream Forwarder is a light weight processing modules that can be responsible for data preprocessing and routing. Stream Analytics Engine is responsible for performing actual analytics on the data stream. Separating the two functionalities enables the service layer nodes to efficiently distribute stream analytics tasks across multiple nodes.

  • Patent number: 10932278
Abstract: It is recognized herein that, in some cases, URLLC transmissions may preempt a scheduled eMBB transmission. Thus, in accordance with one embodiment, resources are allocated for URLLC data transmission in a manner that minimally impacts eMBB data transmissions. In an example code block groups are configured for efficient multi-bit A/N feedback. Multi-bit A/N methods are disclosed with and without explicit resource allocation. Various preemption mechanisms are also described herein including, for example, puncturing, dropping the tail end of a transport block, and increasing rate matching.

  • Patent number: 10924171
Abstract: Multiple mobility sets are maintained for nodes of radio networks. The sets comprise information such as: transmit and receive point identities; cell identities; beam identities; frequency channels; channel bandwidth; and black lists. The sets may be defined at different levels, such as network and physical (PHY) level. A network mobility set, e.g., a new-radio (NR) mobility set may, be determined by the gNB, the cell, the UE, or another device. Multiple radio access network nodes and UEs may exchange mobility set information to achieve a distributed mobility solution. A UE may monitor its orientation relative to a TRP, e.g., via use of an onboard MEMS gyroscope, and alter its beamforming parameters in response to changes in orientation and/or changes in TRP connection strength. Cell selection and reselection for beam based networks may use Single Frequency Network (SFN) broadcast of initial access signals without beam sweeping.
