  • Patent number: 9221587
Abstract: Enclosure clamps and clamp systems are provided for fastening a cover to an enclosure body to provide an explosion-proof container, while minimizing the number of bolts used over conventional systems. The enclosure clamps and clamp systems create a sufficient force so as to provide a flamepath between the cover and the enclosure body. The enclosure clamps described include a channel for receiving the cover and a flange on the enclosure body. The enclosure clamp is secured to the enclosure body by one or more bolts and/or by a cam actuated securing mechanism. The clamp systems described include a force distributing plate secured to a cover by cam actuated securing mechanism that is coupled to an enclosure body. The enclosure clamps and clamp systems allow a user to attach or remove the cover from the enclosure body more easily than possible with conventional explosion-proof enclosures.

  • Patent number: 9215775
Abstract: A luminaire can comprise a system that automatically adjusts light output from the luminaire to control light level in an illuminated area. The system can increase light output if the light level in the area falls below a target light level or decrease light output if the light level in the area rises above the target. For example, when the area is illuminated by a combination of sunlight and luminaire light, the light level can be maintained at the target level by gradually decreasing light output as the sunlight contribution increases in the morning and by gradually increasing light output as the sunlight contribution decreases in the evening. The system adjustments can take into consideration whether the light level is offset from the target due to a change in the target or a short-term fluctuation that may be due to a cloud temporarily blocking the sun.

  • Patent number: 9212792
Abstract: A light emitting diode module is removably coupled to a heat sink with screws and includes slots configured to receive at least a portion of the screw therethrough, the width of the slot being greater than the thread-width of the screw but less than the width of the screw head. Some slots also include a keyhole having a diameter greater than the width of the screw head. For embodiments without keyholes, the module is coupled to a heat sink by loosening the screws, sliding them into the slots, and tightening the screws to hold the LED module in place. For embodiments with one or more keyholes, the keyhole is vertically aligned with the screw, the module is moved down over the screw, and the screw is moved into the narrower portion of the slot. Then, the screws are tightened to hold the module in place against the heat sink.

  • Patent number: 9200782
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a multi-directional light fixture having a single orientation light source. The multi-directional light fixture includes a light source orientated towards a semi-reflective lens. The semi-reflective lens allows a portion of the light it receives from the light source to be reflected upwards, providing uplight from the light fixture. The lens also allows a portion of the light it receives from the light source to be transmitted therethrough, providing downlight from the light fixture. Thus, the light fixture provides both uplight and downlight while the light source is oriented downwards.

  • Patent number: 9200765
Abstract: A light source, for example a light emitting diode, can emit light and have an associated optical axis. The source can be deployed in applications where it is desirable to have illumination biased laterally relative to the optical axis, such as in a street luminaire where directing light towards the street is beneficial. The source can be coupled to an optic that comprises a cavity. A first region of the optic can receive light from the source and emit light towards the area to be illuminated. A second region of the optic can comprise two reflective surfaces. The first reflective surface can receive light from the source and reflect the received light towards the second reflective surface. The two reflective surfaces can be used to direct light away from one side of the optic.
