Patent number: 5103005Abstract: A method for the recovery of riboflavin from a fermentation broth or other feed stock is disclosed. The method comprises a process for the production of large, pure riboflavin crystals from an alkaline, aqueous solution containing solubilized riboflavin. The method can further comprise the process for production of large, pure riboflavin crystals in combination with two solids/liquid separation steps, the latter of which can result in a final riboflavin product purity of at least about 96% by weight.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1989Date of Patent: April 7, 1992Assignee: Coors Biotech, Inc.Inventors: Dale C. Gyure, George W. Lauderdale

Patent number: 5034389Abstract: The invention involves a riboflavin composition comprising about 70% to about 90% by weight riboflavin and about 10% to about 30% by weight of a bulking agent selected from the group consisting of yeast, mold, fungi, bacteria and a mixture thereof, and having a bulk density greater than a riboflavin product having a purity of at least about 90% by weight. The riboflavin composition has improved flowability and reduced electrostatic charge relative to riboflavin products having a purity of at least about 90% by weight. The invention also involves a method for producing the riboflavin composition. The method comprises the steps of mixing riboflavin having a purity of at least about 90% by weight, a volatile, non-toxic liquid, and the bulking agent to produce a blend, and drying the blend.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1989Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: Coors BioTech, Inc.Inventors: Dale C. Patent number: 5032579Abstract: A method and composition for the inhibition of growth of Salmonella is provided. The effective composition of the invention is a composition which is fermented by microflora other than Salmonella at a rate competitively greater Salmonella or which is fermented by microflora other than Salmonella to produce metabolites which inhibit the growth of Salmonella. In one embodiment of the present invention, the effective composition is a class of fructo-oligosaccharides which inhibit the growth of Salmonella. More particularly, the fructo-oligosaccharidesa are sucrose molecules having from 1 to 8 fructose residues. This class of sugars is exemplified by "Neosugar" which includes 1-kestose, nystose, and 1-fructofuranosyl-nystose. The present method includes contacting Salmonella with the effective composition and can include feeding it to a domestic food anomal. The present composition includes the effective component and nutritive feed material.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1990Date of Patent: July 16, 1991Assignee: Coors Biotech, Inc.Inventors: Robert M. Speights, Peter J. Perna, Steven L. Downing

Patent number: 4927811Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and composition for increasing the breast weight to body weight ratio in poultry. The present invention also relates to methods and compositions for reducing mortality and reducing the occurrence of air sac lesions in poultry and livestock. The compositions of the present invention include fructooligosaccharides, and in particular, fructooligosaccharides produced by the action of a fructosyl transferase enzyme on a sucrose substrate. The methods of the present invention involve the administration of compositions including fructooligosaccharides to poultry and livestock. The fructooligosaccharides are preferably administered by incorporation into the poultry or livestock's food supply.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1988Date of Patent: May 22, 1990Assignee: Coors Biotech, Inc.Inventor: Carey L.
