Abstract: A system and method for ensuring that a web browser displays the highest ranked image format possible for an image is provided. In response to a request from a web browser for a dynamic web page, computer-executable code is integrated with the dynamic web page. The computer-executable code is programmed to determine web browser configuration information and request an image according to a set of image formats which are ranked according to ranking criteria and the web browser configuration information. The modified dynamic web page is sent to the web browser. A request for an image is received from the web browser which executes the computer-executable code. The image request identifies the image format for the image selected. The requested image is generated according to the indicated image format and sent to the web browser for display.
Abstract: A system and method for dynamically generating a textual description for a visual data representation is provided. The method accesses a data set and visual template associated with a visual data representation. A textual description template is also accessed. The visual template is interpreted using the textual description template and data from the data set. As the visual template is interpreted, a textual description is generated corresponding to the visual data representation. The system and method may be initiated by a user request or a command based on some other event such as the passage of time, a change to data in the data set, or the like. The textual description may be generated dynamically in response to a request or previous to, and in anticipation of, a request from a user.
Abstract: An inventive computer-implemented method for arranging one or more sets of data for use by a data client includes automatically determining dimensions of each of the sets of data, automatically adjusting dimensions of a data repository to accommodate the dimensions of the sets of data, and arranging the sets of data in the data repository for use by the data client.
