Patents Assigned to Cornell Dubilier Electronics
  • Patent number: 9916934
Abstract: A capacitor assembly is provided having a case containing an upper capacitor and a lower capacitor in vertical alignment, each of the capacitor elements are separately sealed and provided with a pressure interrupter. A terminal board overlays the cover of the upper capacitor and is affixed to the top of the case. The terminals associated with the upper capacitor are mounted on the cover and extend through openings in the terminal board. The terminals associated with the lower capacitor are mounted on the terminal board and connected to contacts on the cover of the lower capacitor. The common leads of all of the capacitor elements are connected, thereby allowing any or all of the capacitor elements to be connected in parallel by accessing the terminals from the terminal board.

  • Patent number: 9911533
Abstract: A capacitor is provided with a case having a receptacle with an expandable section that allows the receptacle to extend axially when internal pressure builds within the case as a result of a fault. Terminals are mounted on the cover and electrically connected to the electrodes of a capacitor element through an interrupter plate, via leads. The plate is attached to the section of the case that extends under pressure, whereby the plate is drawn away from the cover, thereby breaking the electrical connections to the terminal. The plate may also work in conjunction with a cover that expands outward in response to internal pressure, to provide a second pressure interrupter mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4568826
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a photocell is disclosed which allows detection of ambient lighting. A collar is secured to a mounting surface by an integral flange and a locking collar. The photocell is fixed within a body member slidingly positioned within the collar. An adjustable aperture in the body member allows ambient light to be detected.

  • Patent number: 4523129
Abstract: The invention is directed to a circuit and a method for efficiently controlling the output illumination level in gas discharge lighting arrangements. Load side control is provided by a timed interval controlled impedance, serially coupled between the ballast and the lamp(s). A circulating inductor, coupled in parallel with the controlled impedance, provides a current path between the power source and the lamp(s) at least during that portion of the AC waveform where the controlled impedance is in a substantially non-conducting state.

  • Patent number: 4523130
Abstract: The invention is directed to a circuit and a method for efficiently controlling the output illumination level of a gas discharge lighting arrangement having four or more gas discharge lamps with multiple ballasts. Load side control of each ballast is provided by a timed interval controlled impedance, serially coupled between the particular ballast and its associated lamps. A circulating inductor, coupled in parallel with each controlled impedance, provides a current path between the power source and the lamps at least during that portion of the AC waveform when the controlled impedances are non-conducting. The invention is equally operable at both 120 volt and 277 volt AC levels without major component changes.
