  • Patent number: 8972547
Abstract: A host node connected to a network using an Internet Protocol automatically identifies multiple adapters connected to the same network, preferably by broadcasting a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) request for assignment of an IP address on a first adapter, and listening to the request on a second adapter, thereby determining that both adapters are on the same network. The host preferably causes an IP address to be generated for one of the adapters, and automatically configures the adapters to share the IP address thus generated as a virtual IP address, assigning one of the adapters as a primary adapter. Preferably, the host automatically detects deactivation of the primary adapter and switches the virtual address assignment to a different adapter.

  • Patent number: 8971714
Abstract: An integrated or monolithic photonic circuit that modulates RF signals onto optical signals and then performs a channelizing filter function according to the RF content. According to an exemplary embodiment, the photonic circuit is employed in an aircraft system that includes a front end, a photonic circuit, an optical connection, and an electronic module at some distant location in the aircraft. RF signals are received by an antenna in the front end, the RF signals are then modulated onto optical signals by a modulator and a laser, the modulated optical signals are filtered by a filter array according to a channelizing filter function, and the modulated and channelized optical signals are then carried over the optical connection to the electronic module. Other options like a wavelength-tunable laser and corresponding feedback feature, as well as ring filters with integrated semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) are also possible.

  • Patent number: 8972926
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments herein provide a computer implemented method for verifying code within an integrated development environment. A first data processing system identifies a code dependency within a first artifact located thereon. The code dependency depends on the second artifact located at the separate node of peer-to-peer network. Responsive to identifying the dependency within the first artifact, the first data processing system identifies a second data processing system within a peer-to-peer network that contains the second artifact. The first data processing system requests permission from the second data processing system to access the second artifact. Responsive to receiving permission to access the second artifact, the first data processing system accesses the second artifact on the second data processing system. The first data processing system then verifies a compatibility of the second artifact with the code dependency within the first artifact.

  • Publication number: 20150055581
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus providing antenna port sharing and a demodulation reference signals (DMRS) based precoding scheme for a distributed enhanced physical downlink control channel (E-PDCCH) using, for example, spatial frequency block codes (SFBC)/frequency selective transmit diversity (FSTD) transmit diversity. The method exhibits the same performance as SFBC/FSTD transmit diversity using un-precoded DMRS while not prohibiting another UEs' localized E-PDCCH to be potentially multiplexed in a same physical resource block (PRB) pair. The SFBC/FSTD transmission is facilitated by mapping a subset of layers to DMRS ports used by other UEs for localized and beam formed transmission, while the precoders for the remaining layers are selected to be orthogonal to the other UEs precoders there by providing good performance while minimizing DMRS port usage.

  • Publication number: 20150054041
Abstract: A method of protecting a CMOS device within an integrated photonic semiconductor structure is provided. The method may include depositing a conformal layer of germanium over the CMOS device and an adjacent area to the CMOS device, depositing a conformal layer of dielectric hardmask over the germanium, and forming, using a mask level, a patterned layer of photoresist for covering the CMOS device and a photonic device formation region within the adjacent area. Openings are etched into areas of the deposited layer of silicon nitride not covered by the patterned photoresist, such that the areas are adjacent to the photonic device formation region. The germanium material is then etched from the conformal layer of germanium at a location underlying the etched openings for forming the photonic device at the photonic device formation region. The conformal layer of germanium deposited over the CMOS device protects the CMOS device.
