Abstract: A probe includes an acoustic wave transmitting section that transmits acoustic waves toward a subject, a light irradiating section that irradiates a light beam guided from a light source, and an acoustic wave detecting section that detects photoacoustic waves generated within the subject due to irradiation of the light beam onto the subject and reflected acoustic waves of the acoustic waves transmitted into the subject. In addition, a mode switching switch is provided on the probe. A control means switches operating modes between an operating mode in which the acoustic wave detecting section detects at least photoacoustic waves, and an operating mode in which the acoustic wave detecting section does not detect photoacoustic waves.

Abstract: Correction of structured burst errors in data is provided by a system that includes an encoder and is configured for performing a method. The method includes receiving data that includes a plurality of subsets of data. The data is encoded by an encoder using a combination of a first error correcting code and a second error correcting code. The first error correcting code is configured to provide error recovery from a structured burst error in one of the subsets of data, the structured burst error having a length less than a specified maximum length. The second error correcting code is configured to extend the first error correcting code to provide error recovery from the structured burst error in any of the subsets of data. The encoded data is output.

Abstract: Electronically selecting a date and time includes scrolling a series of panels, each panel corresponding to a number of days grouped together, where visually the panels appear to be rotating about a first axis coplanar with a screen of an electronic device, selecting at least one of the panels, selecting a day on one of the panels, scrolling a time band having positions thereon corresponding to a time of day, where visually the time band appear to be rotating about a second axis coplanar with a screen of the electronic device, and selecting a position on the time band corresponding to a particular time by stopping the time band from rotating. Each panel may correspond to a month. Each panel may include a banner having visual clues indicating a corresponding month. The time band may include visual clues indicating time of day.

Abstract: The description relates to emergency medical profiles and techniques for creating and accessing emergency medical profiles. One implementation can receive an access request to obtain emergency medical information from a personal health account of a patient. The personal health account can contain dynamically updateable patient information that is organized into a set of categories. This implementation can also provide the emergency medical information responsive to the request. In this case, the emergency medical information can be provided in the form of summarized information from a sub-set of the categories of the patient information contained in the personal health account.

Abstract: A system and method for ordering a print of a digitally represented still image on a calendar using a remote computer is provided. The system includes a remote computer connected to a photofinisher through a network. A computer readable medium is located on the photofinisher and has computer-executable instructions for performing the method that includes selecting an image using the remote computer and displaying the image in an image tray pane. A calendar workspace pane includes separate calendar image windows associated with each of the calendar pages. One of the images displayed in the image tray pane is associated with one or more of the calendar image windows. A calendar print order data file is established, which includes the association of the selected image with one or more of the calendar image windows. The computer-executable instructions are in HTML and JavaScript.

Abstract: A hosted resource management system is described herein that provides systems and methods whereby a cloud-based tenant can define a logical model that allows the tenant to work with cloud-based entities in a manner that aligns with the tenant's own purpose and thinking. The system then reflects this model in a set of management tools and access paradigms that are provided to the cloud-based tenant. Each division in the logical model is termed a scope, and can include various types of cloud-based entities. Each of these scopes may contain similar cloud-based entity types, but because of the organization provided by scopes the tenant can manage these cloud-based entities according to the view and model that the tenant defines. Thus, the hosted resource management system provides a way of managing cloud-based entities that is intuitive for cloud-based tenants and facilities easier management of large-scale applications with many cloud-based entities.

The trimming controller counts a first counting value of the clock when a predetermined reference voltage is applied to a control terminal of the transistor and a second counting value of the clock when the internal voltage is applied to the control terminal of the transistor and controls the internal voltage generated by the internal voltage generator to substantially coincide the second counting value with the first counting value.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for providing lane guidance to a driver of a vehicle. Based on the current location of the vehicle, the navigation system determines a route to travel from the current location of the vehicle to a destination provided by the driver. The navigation system obtains one or more of the following types of information which is used to determine whether the navigation system should recommend a lane change: past driving patterns of the driver, driver's lane preferences, past driving history of other drivers on the route, external conditions (e.g., weather) and features of the route. The recommendation may be presented to the driver via an audio instruction and/or on a display. In this manner, the navigation system instructs the driver as to which lane in a multi-lane road the user should drive on taking into consideration the user's driving habits and preferences.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to saving power consumption in packet processing devices. A method for controlling power consumption of a packet processing device includes determining a power-save link utilization based upon one or more power-save enabled links of the packet processing device, determining an aggregate minimum processing bandwidth for the packet processing device based at least upon the determined power-save link utilization, and adjusting a processing capacity of the packet processing device based upon the determined aggregate minimum processing bandwidth, wherein the power consumption is changed by the adjusting. System and computer program product embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: A printer has a pair of frame panels that support the ends of a carriage guide shaft, a carriage that carries a print head, a carriage drive motor, and first and second pulleys on which a belt connected to the carriage is mounted. The first and second pulleys limit the range of bidirectional carriage movement so that the maximum width of carriage movement is substantially equal to the width between the pair of frame panels. A tube that carries ink to the print head is disposed curving in a U-shape in the direction of the width between the pair of frame panels. Then, the semiconductor substrate is etched by using a second acid aqueous solution containing hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid with substantially no sulfuric acid to make an uneven surface. A semiconductor layer of second conductivity type different from the first conductivity type is formed on at least a part of the uneven surface of the semiconductor substrate.

An example method embodiment comprises: receiving by a wireless terminal device, a first message from an access point, the first message comprising information indicating a plurality of restricted access windows, each allocated for a different group of terminal devices associated to a wireless network managed by the access point; receiving by the terminal device, a second message from the access point, within a restricted access window of the plurality of restricted access windows, the restricted access window allocated to a group of terminal devices of which the terminal device is a member, the second message comprising information indicating that a communications channel is available; and determining by the terminal device, based on the second message, that the communications channel is not occupied by hidden ones of the terminal devices associated to the network.
